Any one info on household cavalry pls

After some info pls, oh done selection and now waiting for start date and guy from careers office phoned him the other day and asked him to come and see him, he was told that the jobs he is waiting for have not long taken on or is a long waiting list and because he is inpatient he wants to start ASAP so they gave him a list of a few jobs he can do and start basic in sept.
1 is in the cavalry that he likes the sound of because it's something different I can't see him looking after a horse or standing still for hours on guard, but he now has it in his head that he wants to do it.
2 others are in infantry 1 is as a gunner and cant remember what the title of the other is but its operating the big misile thing, I'm not to keen on him doing as we have 3 kids and has a greater chance of being injured if on the front line.
As he has it in his head he wants to start in sept he has told me to think about what job he should go for, as i dont want him on frontline the one that stands out is the cavalry, Pls can anyone give me any info on it will we be stuck in London foreva or will we still get to see the world

That dream of 'seeing the world' for you as a family is a bit far fetched, if you are lucky enough to get one of the sought after postings abroad, of which there arent many left, don't expect weekends in Hawaii.

All 3 jobs that you have mentioned are on the frontline, if you are having thoughts of him getting injured then you need to realise that more guys come back from operational tours than don't. Also, any single person who choose to wear the uniform could end up on the fronline, regardless of their trade.

Sorry this is gloom and I'm sure you want a guarante that he'll never be injured and that family life is all sunshine tours - it's not. They work hard and any forces family works hard at supporting the serving member.

Be proud of him for choosing the army as a career.

No I totally understand that he will be out fighting if needs must after all that's why he's joining and im not really looking to be island hopping but not sure I want to be stuck in London forever.
I have been supportive of him and have done all I can to help and encourage him and will carry on supporting him but I'm not convinced he will like the cavalry and don't want him doing a job that he won't like coz he is stuck with it for four years or till can transfere, and need info on the job before we make the disision to wait for his job or for him to just do it to get in
