Do you have any secretarial skills? Customer Service? Telesales? There are plenty of companies who will train you to work from home. All you need in a broadband and telephone line.

You have to put the work in though, and pay for your own calls (they give you the money back in expenses).

Schuh is right, you could train to be a virtual assistant but the only drawback is that the money is completely crap unless you are extremely fortunate to land regular clients. (This may just be case in my locality - Essex). The problem is that so many PAs, administrators have been made redundant and so many other people use their secretarial skills to fall back on that the sector is completely flooded. Now, that is just my area so your locality may well be different.

I am on quite a few "mum" websites and the ones earning decent money for home-based work seem to be either nail technicans or doing waxing from home. The nail technican averages £200 per day on either new set of acrylics (£35 per set) or rebalancing (£25). She works about 9 hours a day. I have another friend who does reiki massage in her own home during school hours and she earns £45 an hour which is quite good money for just realigning someones chi and ying-yangs whilst just hovering your hands above them. Another has just retrained as a swimming instructor at the local pool in a course run by her local council - one three day course, followed by some coursework and some voluntary work at the swimming pool. After another three day course she had her qualification. She earns £25 an hour at a private pool.

How about a franchise? I know puddle ducks look for people to train to be swimming teachers. I don't know how much they earn, but a course of ten swimming sessions is £120
