    Study

I have been looking into doing some studying whilst we are posted here and I was just wondering if anyone can guide me.

I want to do A Level Law. Which is possible by my exam results (even though they were a millenium ago) but everyone keeps telling me I would need to go back to the UK to take the exams. Surely the local senior SCE school could invigilate the examination though? I would understand if it was a degree, but A-Level or even GCSE would be a start.

    Re: Study

When we were posted overseas the Education Officer would regularly invigilate for degree level exams so I shouldn't think it would be a problem for A Levels. It just depends on what the examination board require though I suppose.

My Mum took her A levels at King Richard's in Cyprus in 1960. I wonder if it is worth getting in touch with them?

Another thought is what do you plan to do with the A-Levels?

The OU do a law degree, which can be started with an 'Openings' course designed to get you back in to the habit of studying and introduce you to a completely new subject.
Heaven wont have me, hell is scared I'll take over. Time for the pub!

On the move this weekend. Not sure yet where I'm going or when I'll get there.....hope theres enough vodka in the car.

    Scuba,

I have just looked at that (missed this post before) and it looks like a viable option as most of it is done online too.

What do I want to eventually? Well thats a question, maybe a legal secretary or something. I just want to study something that I find interesting, and I have to have my brain engaged in a really tough subject to do that.

    Re: Study

Well, I have received an email from OU today and it is definately an option I can take. I am just getting the final details of the course before I commit myself. I have always wanted to study law though as I find both family and conveyancing very interesting, so we shall see where it takes me.

Have you looked at the option of ILEX? You can do that distance too. It's becoming much more recognised and accepted in the Legal field. I did the ILEX diploma and have never looked back.

    Re: Study

That would be ok if I could get an attachement to a firm of solicitors, but being in BFC it would be impossible. Also it is possible we will not be posted back to UK before hubby finishes.

    Re: Study

You don't need to. I wasn't working when I started mine. It was a bit harder because of that but if you want it enough, it just takes that extra bit of studying.
