Joining: TA, RNR, RMR, RAF Reserve, ACF, ATC, SCC

Delighted to report that I now know of 2 members of Rear Party who have now started the enlistment process into the TA plus a couple of others who are committed to joining the ACF as Adult Instructors.

Changed the original title of the thread from a TA recruitment thread because I am keenly aware that this site is very much joint service in nature and so am keen to spread the word that (if the TA or ACF isn't your thing) there are many parts of the Forces which you could either:

    1. Join yourself or
    2. Encourage others to join.

I am particularly keen on point 2 - sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, neighbours, work colleagues, pals at University and anyone else who knows you. The Reserve component of the British Armed Forces has a very wide spread of appeal and all parts need as much support as possible.

I am by no means a subject matter expert but I do have fairly immediate access to sound recruitment advice and am perfectly happy to assist anyone who is interested in doing their bit either as a recruit or as a voluntary recruiter.

And knowing the personalities who post regularly on this site I know there are several others who know just as much, if not more, than I do - especially if your query is for Regular Service rather than the reserve component - so feel free to post your queries &/or pop over to ARRSE Just TA and get stuck into the Recruitment threads over there.

Good idea, as said there are quite a few people on here (including myself) who are in the process or who have joined the TA.
I have recently gone through all the process to join the TA medical services, and am now awaiting basic, ?in winchester.
A lot of people ask in chat about the TA, ACF etc and there are quite a few people who have partners in the TA as well.
I wouldn't have gone ahead and joined if it wasn't for an RP chat session on evening where the advice was given!

Further to this and as posted in another thread, I know that some of you are wary of ARRSE, but the recruiting forums are well moderated so you'll not get "NAAFI'd"!

Regular recruiting is here TA recruiting is here

I think its worth while for all teenagers to join a cadet programme I was in the ATC for a year however I joined the year they changed the rules about age so i quickly had to leave, however it was one of the most amazing experiances I have ever had and have learnt alot about my own limitation.

    Pink_Knickers,

Fantastic blog, well done on that and taking the plunge on joining the TA. Do not worry about the age thing, you will find that there will be other recruits your age, if not older and remember that experience is a valuable asset.

Good luck to you and i look forward to reading updates on your blogs.

PERSEC and the degrees of separation.

It's said we're all associated to each other by only 6 degrees of separation, that means each of us has met a person, who has met a person, who has met a person, who has met a person, who has met a person, who has met a person, who has met the Queen, the Pope, Mr Bush and Mr Blair.

It also means each of us are not as anonymous as we'd like to think. But we should perhaps work a little harder at that.

For example, LMPP's blog is great PR for the TA, they could take it and use it to recruit 20 something females into the ranks, showing the process, the ups and downs, the comradeship as it develops and the pit falls as she faces them. Fantastic!

It also means that half the world knows LMPP's and her life, and by the theory of separation they know you, me and all of those we know and would rather not put into the path of others.

Far from issuing a well done, I'd like to say I'd rather not be associated with a person whose persec is as slack as a hooker's knickers elastic!

LMPP's I wish you every good thing to come, but I hope persec is the first thing you're taught.

Hi Im currently a CI with in the ATC, im also looking at going for my commission with in the corps with in the next year. I want to give back what I got out, i was a late joiner to the cdts at the age of 15 but got a lot out of it reaching the rank of sgt. in the end i found college and cdts too much and had to leave the ATC, much to my dissapointment. As soon as i was old enough i rejoined as a CI then moved to the other end of the country so had to find a new sqdrn. Im really happy now and working towards getting the position of CO

I'm inching ever further outwards on a very weak branch, over the thinning ice ............

If you have considered joining the TA in the past but thought you were too old, the maximum age for enlistment has now been raised to 43.

I'm still young enough to join the TA now. Woohoo!
