Hello :)
Hi everyone,
Just thought i would introduce myself.
First post on here although I have looked a lot recently for help/advice.
OH is on tour, been together 3 years and will be getting married and moving to Tidworth when he gets back, and it all can't come around quick enough :-)
Any advice on the area would be appreciated and also (long shot here) been offered a transfer at work to aldershot but havent accepted yet! so if anyone has any experience in commuting I'm all ears!

Welcome to RP.
Mine is a very large whisky please.
Personally I wouldn't want to do the commute from Tidders to Aldershit but each to their own.Carpe Diem

Hi and welcome. It depends how good the job is if the commute is worth it or not. Tidders to Aldershot is around 50 miles ish. I've commuted further than that in the past and will do again when my company moves in 2014. I'd say that hanging on to your career rather than having to try and find a new job in a new area is a good plan - because sitting on patch twiddling your thumbs is a nightmare.
I've just got to work so I'd love a coffee please - but trust me I'll hit the bar later!

Hello,
Thanks for the welcome :-)
I dont really want to do the commute and adding up the costs of fuel against what i would earn along with the mileage it would rack up on a car its probably not really worth it! But i dont want to get there and struggle to find a job, i would drive myself crazy sat at home all day!
Catch 22 situation for me really.
Happy Friday!

I used to do Andover to Aldershot and it's a horrible commute, so Tidders would be worse. Not sure what the job situation is like around the area though

Just wanted to say hi and welcome. I'm close to Tidworth (Larkhill), and while I can't comment on the work opportunities around here I can only echo the others in saying I wouldn't want to commute from here to Aldershot. That said, you can do it in less than an hour (and that is in traffic) - though I'd imagine not everyone drives like I do *evil grin*. But the wear and tear on your car would be murder... is the job worth it?

Hello

I have decided that it's just not going to be worth it in the end, just going to get there and try my hardest to get a job ASAP!
Like you say draegora, the wear and tear on the car would be shocking and I'm sure that I'll be able to find something closer to home......wherever that is as I don't know yet!
Thanks for the input though it's really helped.
Xx
