    Bonjour!

Hello everyone! I wanted to introduce myself :]

I'm very new to this; I've only just started seeing a lovely man in the army and I've had next to no experience with the military in my life until now. It's such early days - it's only been 3 months! But, I'm absolutely head over heels for him and I've known from the beginning that he's going to Afghanistan in November for 6 months.

I found this site when I started researching the military in general just to get a better understanding of what he does and it's honestly been so helpful and informative! Whilst I've just been enjoying the firsts of a new relationship, I have seriously questioned it's future. I'm the type of person who likes to have all the information and I wanted to be sure before the relationship went any further that I could handle being the girlfriend of a man in the military because the last thing I'd want to do is bail when things got hard.

Reading all your personal stories/advice/wisdom has reassured me that I will find the strength to cope with the trials of having an OH in the military and that it's an adventure that I want to take!

So I look forward to getting to know you all!

Welcome to the mad house! There are a mixed bunch on here, from the new girlfriends to the long-term marrieds or if you're like me ex-pad brat to married. If you have any questions feel free to have a search, and if you can't find an answer one of us lot will be sure to answer.

Now for the important stuff, mine's a Brandy Sour when the bar opens.

It might be a start to use our search tool for the forum, type in whatever subject you're looking for and the closest will pop right up, gives you some reading material to shift through.

Hi and welcome, I'm an OH (2 years) to someone that's been in for, well a long time!

So not lived it for the time that some of the others on here have done, but we've had a lot thrown at us in the 2 years we've been together, after all of that, the deployment was easy!

Anyway, mines a strawberry gin, because it's Monday and that seems a good enough reason to have one... in fact, I may have to go via my storage facility and crack open a bottle for real (just tonight!)
Nothing to see here, move on by....

Hi and welcome to RP. My Oh just left this morning for 6 months in Afghan, and I'm not even going to try and kid myself that it won't be horrendous, but we will get through it and be happy again at the other end!

It's his 4th tour but his first since we've been together, so he is really taking it in his stride whereas I have NO idea what is going on lol!!

Mine is a very large vodka cranberry please. 10:30am isn't too early, I feel I could have started at 6!!

    Hi and welcome

My OH of almost 4 years is RN and just finishing the last of his training before sitting in holdover for eternity waiting for a draft so we've not done the deployment thing yet and it looks like it'll still be a way off yet.

Hope you stick around - I'll have a glass of whatever's going cos I'm getting desperate now

Hi everyone, I'm in the same boat as Pinkee, been with my BF for 5 months now. I've no experience of life in the forces either and although i'm very independent I'm still finding it quite hard being apart from my BF as he's currently posted in Germany. Have had a look on this site a few times in the past few months and it's been very informative and everyone seems lovely

Hello! I've found this forum enormously helpful too - although I'm more of a lurker than a poster. Have you had to go through similar thought processes as I described in my original post? When I read it back it sounds so cold and I definitely didn't mean it like that! haha.

Hey,seems there's a lot of new people bagged an army bloke. Ohhh what have we done??!! Haha, well sure we can all rant together. Thanks for fake tan tip, will give the fake bake a shot, still always end up with stained hands though even though I try my best to avoid it. Seeing someone in the army seems alright actually,it's like the honeymoon phase keeps on going....FOR NOW LOL.

Hi xPinkeex - similar boat to you - 10 months in - when we met we knew he was being stationed in Cyprus in 2 months time - has been back and forth to the sandpit a few times. Very soon again in fact

Have just worked out what OH stands for - I think!

Hi The Baby'sMum Off topic, I know, but for removing fake tan from hands, I have it on good authority, that nail varnish remover with acetone is pretty good at removing it.

Some of us are serving or ex serving too so can pretty much give all views on things.

Alcohol kinda goes hand in hand with this stuff (we do have some weird guys at work who don't drink but each to their own).

I'm soon to become a civvy again with a serving OH - who will be prepping to deploy after the summer - what the hell am I getting myself into!! Think I'll actually finish off the bottle of rose I have in the fridge
