Hi Mardy, welcome to the site and I'm sorry to hear about all of your troubles.

I was just reading about the trade training your son has to go through now and how he feels about it.

Trade training is something he has to go through but tell him to remember it's only for 10 weeks, then he can get on with the rest of his career and all that the army has to offer.

Trade training continues throughout your career aswell. I myself am off on a course next week. I understand it will be death by power-point, but it is a necessary evil for me to progress.

I find some of these courses boring too but i normally try and concentrate and throw myself into it as it makes life easier when it comes to tests and practical assessments. If he does well, it will be recognised and he could progress fast if he is switched on and knows his trade well.

All the best for everything else you have to deal with aswell. Remember you can always come and chat/moan/gossip to us when you feel the need

Hi Mardy and welcome to the forum - sorry it was not under better circumstances.

With regards to Leconfield lol - I live a couple of miles down the road from there and yes its no wonder he liked it. The boys spend most of their time learning to drive around the area - then head into beverley and hull for a good night out. Beverley is usually swamped with squaddies of a weekend - hence the vast number of bouncers lol.

I hope all goes well this week and has previously stated - just pop in for a chat etc... its surprising how much better it can make you feel.

well all done and dusted,my son home and i couldnt be happier.although he as dragged me all over today looking for sat navs,well have decided i have reached the age were i dont have a clue what they are talking about. my son had wonderd off,and this very nice young man was explaining about them i had to say please stop because i really havnt a clue what you on about,then legged it.

Haha, my husband does that to me. He left me in the middle of phones 4 u with 2 screaming kids.
Anyway, I read all through this thread and although the circumstances are awful-its all worked out ok.

Mardy welcome to the Rear Party. I am sorry it is under such circumstances but you have just found out how supportive this site can be. As you gathered from the advice some of it is not always what we want to hear but it does give us a chance to make a decision. I am glad that the advice received helped you to help your son out of what could have been a bad career decision. Now you can get through this week and then watch your son become the Man that the Military will make him.
