You get used to that. They're really restricted as to where they can use their phones and the signal tends to be pants too so everyone ends up in the same area.

You'll find that after this week he will be able to speak more. It just shell shocks them at first so a quick text while they get their heads round folding stuff to A4 size is about all they can manage lol.

I'd just like to say how nice it is to be able to talk to people who really understand what its like and dont just give you that pity look and the standard "Yea it must be so hard, I don't know how you do it"

This place is brilliant for that. I don't know any other 'real' people in the same situation at the moment - obviously that will change once I move but for now it's nice to be on here!

hey, mine joined on the 26th so hes a week behind, finally got sent his address last night so am off to the post box later, will give him something to read on sunday. Its getting easier to adjust as the days go by, even if my LO still doesnt quite understand where hes gone, really tugs at your heartstrings when he asks for him. Looking forward to when they come home at easter though!

Hiya yeah You get used to it as the days go by, the OH got his letter yesterday he said it's cheered him up and could believe how much I wrote I didn't think 4 pages was that much he's finding it tough at the minute so I think it got to him at the right time! I'm glad your OH has managed to ring it's so nice to hear from them I've only had one call so far but he's ringing tonight so can't wait ! I bet it's hard for your LO to understand, how old is he ? at least you've got him to keep u nice and busy ! I don't think ever looked forward to Easter this much !

haha, i sent him 2 letters as only just got his address and had already written them, 3 and 4 pages each! I find it easy to just write a lot as it replaces being able to natter to him about everything and nothing in the evenings as theres only so much you can put into a text message. My LO is 3, its nice that he likes my OH (he was 2 1/2 when we met) but it does tug at your heartstrings a bit as they dont quite understand, they just notice that they have gone. How are you coping with him being away? The phone calls are worth it, even if only for a few minutes

It's so easy to write lots in the letters I had a chance to tell him what I've been up to and like you say just the usually stuff that you don't want to waste in a text! It was great to hear from him earlier it's nice to know he's getting on ok, I'm coping ok keeping busy and trying to take it as it comes! The last two couple of have been a bit emotional as OH was finding it a bit tough and I felt helpless ! But after his call tonight he's much happier which make me happy! How are u doing so far ?
