    Hey !!

Welcome!... My OH is currently in his last week of basic training at HMS Rayleigh and is due to pass out next friday ... Although he came home for xmas we did spend 7 weeks apart and then another 3... To be honest I didnt think it was toooo bad, of course I missed him and im sure you will miss your OH too.. but the key thing is to keep yourself as busy as possible. I enjoyed seeing family and friends whilst he was away and time to be on my own and be independant. After the first 7 weeks it was sooo lovely to see him, having a little break from one another is good, I felt it completely refreshed out relationship .... Good Luck !!

Thanks again everyone for your welcomes, hi sophie how exciting you OH is passing out soon I bet you can't wait ! You'll have to let me know how it goes ! It's good to know you didn't find it to tough I don't think were going to have the full ten weeks apart as I think they come home for Easter which will be nice although difficult for him as he'd rather stay focused and get it done, Ive already got lots planned for when he's away including a couple of gigs, a hen weekend and a day trip to Paris so lots to look forward to aswell as more time for friends and family! And I'm sure I'll be on here lots x

You'll be fine. Be prepared for a few emotional phone calls this week cos he's going to have a massive culture shock and will feel like crap. Try not to cry if he gets upset. There's a good chance he will hate this week. Once he's done the first week it gets better.

He should be able to ring for a few minutes on an evening but be prepared for him being shattered. It's a whirlwind of paperwork and ironing this week x

He's done with Phase 2 now and is on his SMQ up in Scotland. His brain seems to be melting with all the stuff he's having to learn but they're spending a fair bit of time on the boat that's up there so he's loving it.

He's home pretty much every other weekend now which is great. He's going to be in holdover for a fair while when he's finished SMQ so hopefully will be home every weekend he's not on duty then until we move up x

    Thanks!

Well the advice on here is always to keep busy. I think having a baby and planning a wedding plus dealing with a 9 year old teenager and the Tasmanian Devil in human form counts as busy lol

Yeah I'd say that was fairly busy ! Your OH must be very proud of you,

I've just heard from my man he's had his head shaved but says it's not to bad, he's got medical and fitness tomorrow which he's not looking forward to but I'm sure he will be fine he has been working hard !!

He'll get used to the fitness thing - he'll run that 2.4k a hundred times before the 10 weeks are out. He'll also grow to hate PTIs lol. The medical isn't a big deal - it's mainly just to see if they need dental treatment or if they've turned up to Raleigh injured (which one idiot did when OH went - he got sent home).

Glad you got a chance to speak to him. Even if you manage 5 mins every other night it'll be a big morale boost for him.
