just popped in to say a quick hello and looking forward to getting to know you all

You may want to expand on your welcome as people may think you are a spammer, unless you are a spammer, in which case, make mine a large glass!

It's not a school night in Scotland so you can have a large one anyway.

ok, expand. Erm mum of two, living off the patch and hubby in Afghan. Married for 16 years and and have followed him for 15 years of that but time to settle down now so that the children only have one high school to go to. It's so good not to have to worry about patch politics anymore.

Welcome gladrags. We are looking to live off patch or go unaccompanied early next year/end of this year, so I might pick your brains sometimes.

Mines currently a Brandy Sour, but when I move it will be a Pear Cider

I'll have one of those too please. Welcome gladrags, we're mostly a friendly bunch but don't tend to pull punches too often - we seem to have an influx of spammers and trolls at the moment so are all slightly wary of short intros. Good to see you getting stuck in elsewhere. x

Thanks for the welcome. I'm not easily offended so there's no worries about thinking I'm a spammer or troll. Not sure what they are but I'm sure I've been called worse over the years, lol.

A troll is someone who seeks to wind other members up, usually by posting comments that would cause other members to argue back. A spammer is someone who is basically only advertising a product. Trust me especially in the case of the spammers you'll recognise them as soon as you see them!

Gonzo, it's not easy doing the unaccompanied thing but needs must. If it wasn't for us wanting the children to have only one high school to go to we'd still be in quarters. Good luck though, it works for lots of people so I hope it can work for us too

Evenin GR and welcome. Mr laws just finishing 27 years service so am moving off the patch too. That said I work strange hours so only know my neighbours!! I had a dry night last night so mine's a white wine please.

27 years, wow! I'm not sure I'd manage that long. My hubby is now into 23 years with a few still to go. Just as I see civvi street approaching we seem to take a detour. We will get there one day.

How does he feel about leaving? Going to be a bit of a culture shock after 27 years. Good luck to him.
