I just found this forum and it seems great. My boyfriend is in Afghanistan and have missed him over Christmas. He is 19 and it is his first tour.

Hi and welcome

My OH has been away this Christmas, although it's not his first, it is mine, first Christmas, New year and Valentines that he's away, but just think of it this way, how you can celebrate them all once he's home...

Anyway, as has been said - lots of threads on how to cope, easiest way is keep occupied - although for me, this month, that's partially doing my tax return - urrgh!

So when the bars open, mines a large glass of white please!

Hi Paula, my OH is also over there (although due back in 20 days) we missed our first christmas and new year together but will be making up lost time while he is on leave during February I found this place absolutely brilliant and like the others have said, there are many other threads that will give you advice. I was new to Army life but thanks to this site I have a bit of a better understanding of things now x
