Hi everyone
I happened upon this forum by chance this morning. Thanks to my fella I had started reading posts on ARRSE, when I came across a link to RP. Funnily enough, the post on RP just seemed to be written far more from my own perspective![]()
Anyway, I'm on holiday, it's 17 days since I last saw him and 24 till I *might* see him again (this is the Army! No need to explain!) and I'm missing him something awful. So naturally I've spent most of the day on RP reading posts from members in similar circumstances. And thanks to that, what started as a really low day somehow got a whole lot better.
My OH and I have had an interesting couple of months (we've been friends for years, actually) but following my split with my hubby in April we got a lot closer (not that either of us was prepared to call it LOVE, or anything). At least not until a month or so before I had to fly to family abroad (it was booked ages ago - couldn't tell my mum I'm cancelling the flight because I've met the love of my life)
Anyway, so he's on leave and I'm on leave but we're thousands of miles apart, and when I fly back to the UK at the end of the month he'll have been posted abroad. And of course he has no idea when/whether he'll have weekends off in September, and then there's the not insignificant factor of travel costs...
So it just sucks, generally. But reading all your posts gives me hope. I'm a raw civvie so the separation angle is a new one for me, but I love him and I know it's worth it. And it was very gratifying to read earlier that I should just disregard advice from civvie mates because they just don't/can't get Army relationships.
Oh dear, I've written an awfully long first post. But that's me, everyone - thank you all for your posts - I'll be sure to keep coming back.
