    Hello from an old'n

    Hello Everybody

I am Pam and was an army wife back in the sixties and early seventies. I have no idea whether it is different these days but I really did enjoy the life, well most of it. Maybe not the drinking! We spent some years in Aldershot, a couple in Malaysia, months in BAOR and Lincoln. I think my favourite posting was Aldershot and I would love to see what it is like nowadays. I worked at the Cambridge Military Hospital in the out-patient department and my son was born in the Louise Margaret Maternity Hospital.

That's enough for now but looking forward to seeing how much the army life has changed.

I was born at LMMH at CMH!

Welcome to RP. I'm sure there are plenty of changes from your time - and still plenty that has stayed the same. Good to see you here, and looking forward to hearing a few of the stories that begin "In my day..."

    Many thanks for your reply.

I lived in Scott Moncrieff Square for a while. They were really horrendous places and scruffy as hell. But first we lived in a nice hiring in Farnborough. My last quarter was 1 Arnhem Close in Waterloo Park. That was really quite reasonable.

I loved Aldershot but there was too much drinking in the 16 Para Bde Sgts. Mess. My son never went to school in Aldershot we left there when he was about 3 and he went to school in Dewsbury. He was born in 1970.

When was it pulled down - the LMMH I mean? Where are the military babies born now?

I loved my job at CMH very much. The army is a good employer and I had some fun.

    Regards

    Pam
