Hey I am new to the site as my partner recommended it for when he goes to Afghanistan in March as a platoon commander. This is the first tour he has been on since we have been together he has been to Iraq before so knows the ropes.
I am off to a family briefing tomorrow does anyone know what goes on there and what I might expect?
He is away at the moment on a 2 week training course in Chilwell and communication is already difficult.

    Hey Sue,
Welcome to the site. Have a look around, you'll find lots of ladies (and gents) here in the same boat.

they usually tell you about the role the welfare office plays whilst your partner is away, How to keep in touch with them, making sure you know how to access the money( most important) and what will happen if your partner is injured etc. Also they usually have a presentation about the camp etc out in afghan.
    Worth going to.

Some people are like slinkies, they're really good for nothing...but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs!
