What kind of advice do you want?

Do you rent currently or own a house? Do you have reservations? If so why etc?

    Hello and welcome.

Which location are you offered housing at?

Someone on here might know the area and be able to offer their opinion.

Depends on your circumstances but if it means being with your OH, I'd go for it, especially as you're newly weds. Marriage has enough pressures and stresses without living apart when you don't need to.

Give us a bit more info and I'm sure someone will be able to help you.

aww thankyou everyone, so nice to hear people in my position. I'm based in Manchester, well Glossop just outside and possibly moving to Faslane Scotland. Just a bit aprehensive to leave home and move somewhere new. I also have a house and would probably need to rent it out. Any advice?

I am just sorting the renting of my property because I am marrying a soldier next year who is going to be based in Celle. My best advice is get a letting agent to come round and quote you a monthly rental and ask them what you need to get done to the property to rent. I have just been told I need an energy test (80 + VAT) and also Gas Safety (55 + VAT). Then I would decide what service you require from the agent. They will tell you the fees etc up front.

Whatever you do do not use Your Move or Countrywide, I used to work for Your Move and was there 3 months also I have been told Countrywide are not so good by a friend who rents her house which is also in Manchester!

    Good luck.

Faslane is near Glasgow which is an amazing city (not baised cos im from there honest!) but also really close to Loch Lomond and all sorts of other places. If you are having doubts about moving due to being on your own, meeting new people etc I know where you are coming from. I moved form Glasgow to Dorset last year and never knew another soul (apart from hubby) I wont lie and say it was easy because it wasnt'

I have now moved again (heading back up towards Scotland!!) and have had to start all again making friends finding work and Im only just getting settles now, 4 months on.

Is your hubby in the Navy? Only asking as it's Faslane you are going to. There is a lrge forces comminity at Faslane so if your hubby is away for any length of time you will have support.

It is daunting moving but only you can make the decision.

    Good luck.
They said it could'nt be done, so I did'nt do it

All great advice thankyou so much, this site is very helpful!
Yes he is in the Navy, good to know there is a good community at Faslane and comforting to know that it can be done. Hoping to move next year some time.

    Thanks again xx

    Hiya,

There is a leisure centre in Tidworth itself with a normal big pool and a smaller pool aswell its a nice centre.

I live about 15min away from tidworth (moving in Jan thou) , there are tons of people in Tidworth and im sure there will be groups etc , im not sure how old your son is but maybe some toddler groups etc you would be able to attend.
I hope you meet some nice people and settle in well.
    Best of Luck x
