    Hi
Okay I just joined and accidentally posted my hi I'm new here in 'jungle drums'- I'll get the hang of this eventually.

As I said glad I accidentally found you, as the mum of a serving soldier just returned from Afghan I had been feeling quite isolated and discovered some of his mates parents had as well. When your not actually living in quarters you don't have the support networks nor access to up to date info ( do they ever update the info on the regiment/units website on armynet?). Maybe I didn't have it as bad being ex army wife and servicebrat myself I pretty much know the army mindset (?)I had been thinking of setting up a site myself to counteract this, but hey your here.

    Hi Folks
    Thanks for welcome.
Well you know maybe us 'older' mums will come in useful for something?
I also come under the categorie 'nana'. ( my beautiful gorgeous grandson,17 months old and another due in September- I just love being nana)

Checking some of the mails - I can do stretch mark advice-
I have noticed a fetish for chocolate and wine- er has to be red and over 70% coco solid chocolate by the way.( that way you can claim it's healthy and one or two squares satisfies the craving and stops the DR wheenging at you- well mostly)

So is it worth sticking my neb in and saying could we have a special forum section for us poor mums who let our babies join up have a special moan?..or is that the section for us 'older folks?'hmmmmmm

What I could do with is a section entitled 'what to do with your lad when he comes back from Afghanistan and to be frank isn't quite himself'.

Cheers looking forward to getting to know you

Auntylol, it's good to see mums (and Dads) on the site. It will be really interesting to hear your perspective on Army life as I really don't think I quite understand how my outlaws will feel when they hear our latest news (to be confirmed yet ) so I'll probably be bugging you stupid!
    Nice to see you!

    hi auntylol,

have you checked out the tea rooms forum on here? You may need a pinny and a brew on to enter there though!

It would be good to have a 'parents' forum on here for you to share your experiences, aswell as for the younger ones to know what it's like for you.

So, is your 'younger part' back from the sandpit now?

'have you checked out the tea rooms forum on here? You may need a pinny and a brew on to enter there though!'

Pinny? moi? Brew???? well maybe loads of coffee, and some 'erb tea?

Auntylol, it's good to see mums (and Dads) on the site. It will be really interesting to hear your perspective on Army life as I really don't think I quite understand how my outlaws will feel when they hear our latest news (to be confirmed yet ) so I'll probably be bugging you stupid!

Oh heck bug me stupid, my own family does, you are welcome Deeply Dippy.

I suppose as an ex army wife and service brat I am a bit more tolerant of the Mod's idiotic ways.
Aye the male child is back from the sandpit- well some sort of thing that looks pretty much like him is back but the jury is still out as to what else. I think he is trying to outdo the granson for temper tantrums. (Like seriously is it the end of the world because the window in the car got stuck and wouldn't open???)

Although his girlfriend dumping him on his way home might not have helped???

Ta for the welcome, I just hope I don't make an eejit of myself, I promise not to mail when I am a) on the wine
or b) have done a double shift at work and been up all night and most of the next day.

The stock answer when I make less sense than usual is 'lol go to bed'

    lol

Hiya Auntylol - all sounds so familiar... the temper tantrums at nothing, and yes, is he the same?? well - perhaps he doesn't view the good old British weather in the same way? I am still getting used to my OH being back after a year away (it has been 9 months, and it is slowly getting better) but oh boy does it take time!

    Good to speak to you.

yeh thats what I said, I have to confess I was a tad young when I got married and awfully sensible- apart from the getting married to a squaddie thing- so since getting divorced er about 16 years ago I have been reliving my lost childhood, or teen years.

I think my kids would like to give me the most embarressing mum award sometimes.

I have friends who have children younger than my grandson, now that is wierd

    you too ta for that.
it's knowing what to say when something random like cutting himself shaving leads to this wierd conversation- about the QM not exchanging his uniform because he's not wearing it because it got covered in blood when he pulled X out of the viking minus his legs......

what do you do? what can you? last time I gave him an unexpected hug I spent half an hour scrapping himof the ceiling
