    Saying Hi

    Hi

I'm new, haven't a clue about the format of this board and scared stiff of making an absolute idiot of myself!

I feel a bit daft admitting this but I met my guy online more than ten years ago - we just kept things friendly and between his various deployments and my moving around, we had lot of gaps in communication.

A few months before he deployed the relationship suddenly became seriously romantic.

My trouble is that I haven't the first clue of Army life and find a lot of what he tells me hard to understand or even believe!

I guess I'm scared I'm either going to stuff the relationship up by not trusting him or by having the wool pulled over my eyes if he's just stringing me along.

I was told to look in here and see if reading about everyone's experiences might help me understand better. I've only lurked a bit but already learned a lot so thank you - and if I make any stupid mistakes don't be too hard on me!

    Hey Morrigana

Welcome to RP , before I met my guy I knew nothing of Army Life and mearly a year later I'm well into it and wouldn't change it for the world.. well there are times when you get put under pressure that other relationships don't get put under, but its all worth it!
Trust is a big thing, and sometimes the mad and crazy things they get up too are a little hard for a civvy mind to comprehend so totally understand what you are getting at there!!
But just welcome to RP and the girls on here have great advice and I truley mean it when I say I couldn't of got through things without there words of wisdom and help at the most testing times!!

Have a good read on the posts and you'll soon be up to speed!!

    Hi Morrigana

Welcome, I only recently logged on too (having lurked around for a while beforehand too) and it was the best thing I did as all those on here really do understand how you feel and offer lots of encouragement.

Your situation sounds a bit similar to mine, in that you have known your guy for a long time on and off for years. You are a bit more advanced as your friendship has already turned to romance and mine is in the process of blossoming. I probably don't quite qualify as a "significant other" yet but I'm working on it!!

I also had no idea about army life when my love interest deployed, but I am learning fast - you'll pick it up.

Good luck and keep faith. In my view trust is everything xx
