    Re: Hi

    Hello Deb,
    Welcome to Rear Party.
I am an Army Wife rather than a Mother, I have waved him off a few times-but its not the same as how you must be feeling.

There are other Mums and Dads that are members.

    Hope you enjoy the site.

    Rinky xx

    Deb,

You are more than welcome. This site was made for Mum's like you!

There are lots of members in the same situation, some are Mum's / Dad's, wifes, sisters and other half's.

    Enjoy.
    xx

    Re: Hi

    Hi Deb:

Welcome to the site! I'm a mum of a serving personnel as well as a wife of a little green guy. I just retired from the forces myself.

My kidlet has just got back from her third deployment with the NATO Task Forces to support the ISAF in AFG. We have what to send, what to say during the calls, what to expect when she gets home all down pat now.

Do I still worry? You betcha! But I also know that she's been trained to do her job and she's very good at it. I also keep in mind that the life she has chosen to follow is one that she is very proud to be a part of and she has a wonderful and talented crew on her ship.

You'll be fine once you get past the first goodbye and you'll look forward to all the hellos.

    Hi Deb

Welcome to RP, my OH left for Afghan a week ago . Im new to all this and still learning myself but if I can help in anyway feel free to ask.
Hope it goes ok tomorrow, the goodbye is one of the hardest parts but before too long your son will be marching back through your door and you'll wonder where all the time went.
    Hang in There

    Re: Hi

    Hi Debs
In all honesty I don't usually dip into welcomes posts.

My Dh is in Afghan and due home week after next, after a very long 6 months.
I can't imagine what it must be like for you as a mother, I hope you find all the support and answers you need on this site.

All I can add is send him lots of letters, local papers, favourite mags, sweeties, etc, etc. If you have other children/family, get them involved by writing a few lines to him and sending lots of little parcels.

    Regrds, Els x
It is only about things that do not interest one that one can give a really unbiased opinion, which is not doubt the reason why an unbiased opinion is always absolutely valueless
