    newbie wanting info

hi guys n gals, i am not a military virgin i am 43 an done my little bit a while back, nowadys i support my local british legion, i have no serving friends now but the wife and i would like to send a parcel for xmas to iraq and afghanistan , i know i need 2 shoeboxes, but i heard you cannot address "to a soldier" it has to be somebody? i honestly feel really guilty after having a nice drink an chat with friends an i know i will feel bad at xmas knowing we have serving troops possibly under fire while it is xmas an i am having fun with my family and beer. so i would feel better if i could cheer a somebody up in each country, how will i find 2 people to send a box too? and what would they like i know no aerosols etc, sweets toothpaste roll on etc. cheers paul, in harlow essex...

I think parcels out to Iraq or Afghanistan are still free aren't they? If you have a dig around the forums you'll find more than one thread on sending parcels out to the blokes/girls.

you can go to the help for heroes website and there is addresses on their designated for "to a soldier" which is very useful indeed....

and you can send practically anything (if you pack it well ) sweets etc are a big thing because there little tuck shop runs out the day it gets stocked and practical stuff like shoelaces, cleaning stff etc which is very expensive
