    yet another newbie!

hiya, another newbie here....a double newbie in fact..new to this site and new to being a squaddie mrs.
does anyone know if there is anything set up to help fledglings like me meet others? we're in the oh so lovely deepsh*t, i mean deepcut!

have been reading some of the posts and i must say i'm glad I've found you peeps, you seem to help each other out when needed with advice and support. I dread the day my OH says he's going on tour but i'll know where to come for support.

    anyone else in my area?

    Hello, welcome to RP.
I am not in your area, but my husband has been there once or twice over the last few years.
As for meeting people, going to your husbands company gatherings is a good way to meet the wives/girlfriends of his colleagues. Having something in common is a start.

    Good Luck.

Hiya - couldn't be a better place for support and I wish I had known about it before my OH went on tour months ago. I think RP should be compulsive for all of us left here when our OHs go off on their tours. Is there anyway that the info/link could be put into info packs for us newbies? It would have saved my sanity a lot earlier on (although my friends doubt that there is any to be saved).....
    All the best

hi. thanks for the advice rinky. I have said i would go along to any doos but he's missed the only one there's been as we were away! I gather there is alot of "office politics" going on in his sqn which makes it harder to meet his colleagues and their wives. the only wife i have met is about leave on another posting! typical!!

I agree it would be helpful to have links to these kinda sites to help newbies settle in to the barmy army life and new areas.

Hiya, and welcome!! Its always a lot of fun on RP, and there's a lot of good advice when you need it.

I met loads of my OH's mates, wives, girlfriends and kids at his last posting, but now he's gone back to his battallion, and I've got to start all over again. It is good to meet so many new people though. I've made some really good friends, and hope to make a load more.

Aahhhh those politics - seem to inhabit civvy and army life. What happened? Politics were always part of army life, but in the last few years (decade or so) they seem to have become more and more important. Must be getting old to hark back to the good old days!!! Next will be getting maudlin -must be that second bottle!

LOL missy.....that's just the reaction we got from everyone when they found out we'd been posted there!! along with, "what did you do to deserve that?!"

as we keep reassuring ourselves....if this is our first home together, things can only get better and its only for another year (hopefully!)

the house isn't as bad as everyone made out it would be...once we got rid of the earwig infestation lol
