have you been married long? I've done nearly 4 months and it's been a bit of a bumpy road so far.

    Hello Mrsrsp.

My friend is off to Aldergrove soon too, she is worried about finding a job and making friends. Northern Ireland has a lot to offer though.

    Good Luck with it all.

Is he dustbathing? My OH is in a sandy place and offloads a lot of his stress stuff on me. Usually I find it is best to listen and let him get it off his chest; sympathy seems to go a long way and letting him know that I am hearing what he is saying, telling him I love him lots and am missing him. Sometimes he wants to talk about home and sometimes not. Letters also help hugely; emails and communication from family make an enormous difference.

Hope that helps - hang on in there. Marriage is interesting - someone once called it advanced sandpapering!! Ouch but it does make for smoother relationships once the bumpy bits are sorted out.

I find RP bods really helpful with advice and support.

    Take care

    Hi Bitza,
no he's in the UK, just not enjoying the posting. it's been a stressy time for both of us, getting wed & moving in together into qtrs within a week of each other and me having moved further away from family, friends and my job, and trying to understand a bit about the way of life and how his job affects him, the new life takes a bit of getting used to! We'll get there. I like the sandpaper/marriage thing!

big pat on the back to you for all your support to your OH. Hope you feel appreciated. Do you have much support while he's away? Has he got long left?
    choc-chip cookie x

Some people are like slinkies, they're really good for nothing...but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs!

Many thanks - yep he is a darling and always apologises if he gets too stressy - usually when back from the FOBs. Re: support the TA is lousy at that - or perhaps it is just his regiment - RP has given me the most support in the last couple of months - it is just so good being able to offload occasionally and have a gripe..... He is back at the beginning of November so there is going to be a lot more of that sandpapering going on - I will have to get used to being married again as opposed to the mad 'affair' like status that R&R seem to engender (not that that is not great fun). You sound like you have had a huge amount of change - hang on in there; it does get better as you get your feet under the table and start to make new friends etc. Army life is vvvv different from civvy life - you really do make friends for life and it is incredibly supportive. So the best of luck to you - as I said if you have any problems there is usually someone in RP who can help out!
