    Hi there

    Hello.
Having been lurking for a little while I thought I'd introduce myself.
Firstly I'd like to say what a wonderful place this website is. It's hard to say without sounding condescending just how fantastic I think those left behind have to be and how important for moral they are.

My sister is an Officer in the Army, married to another Officer who is presenly in Afghanistan. She finds it very hard being both the wife left behind, alone in the patch and also a soldier getting on with things and the postpect of her next deployment looming. I think she copes marvelously and I'm very proud of them both. In the years they've been married only a quarter of them have they spent together, yet they love their jobs and each other and somehow make it work. One year I met some of her soldiers over from Germany at an Army Navy match. I have to say they looked about 14 and were fresh out of training. Whilst having a good time herself I watched her as she went round making sure they were ok and having a good time, and talking to them. I know for a fact that not everyone in the Army is like this, which made me prouder still.

I'm in the TA myself and have a fraction of an idea of what they go through, and I just hope that when and if it becomes time for myself or my partner to deploy we can deal with it half as well as they have.

I've grown up with the Army and think its a fantastic organisation, and despite some of the problems it faces today the people involved remain an inspiration.

So hello to everyone, bloody good site.

    Miss Marple.
