    Hello

Hmm. I dont really know where to start. Im 20 years old, and have been maried for 3 months now. There are not many other wives on base, especially my age, and I really only have 1 friend.

There is no one I can talk to. I cant drive, and as this is rather an isolated place, i cant even leave the house or get a job. My hubby is the only person who I ever see.

Needless to say, this isnt good. I gave up a very good job in london to live here in the pads and in doing so gave up all my friends and family.

Im absolutely terrified of my husband going away, but none of my friends understand, as most of them dont know anyone in the army.

I suppose I just wanna talk to someone who knows what i feel like. There is a hundred million things i cant do. im not used to being dependant on people, and I dont know what to do. I love my husband more than anything. We were together when he first joined, and I saw him off at Pirbright for basic training, and he has his trade and is doing brilliantly.

I just feel lonely i suppose.

So, if anyone could talk, that would be fantastic.

    Thank you.

    L

    Hello Army-wife,

Welcome to the forum! There are a number on here in exactly the same boat OR in very similar situations. Hopefully this place will ease the boredom and lonelyness a wee bit, pull up a chair and have a read.

    Read, Post and Enjoy!!

    Re: Hello

    Hi Army Wife

Where abouts are you living? I felt very much like you when i had my first move with hubby, sold my house, left my job of five years (which i loved), left family and friends behind. We are now on our 2nd posting in Germany and i promise it gets easier with each move, your confidence builds up and you surprise yourself at how well you cope. Each move means you make more friends, it can take time, but you slowly build up a good group of mates. It can be lonely, when we first arrived here i didnt know one person, my husband has his work and i am in the flat all day with the cat! who is a good listener!

We have been here for three months now, and slowly i am making progress, i have two friends who i spend time with. I am hoping to find a job very soon otherwise i will be calling the people with the white coats!!!

It will get better and easier. Its hard to make friends, you cant just walk up to someone and say, you look nice, wanna be my mate! they would think you were a bit barking! But go to any function you can, and go out with your hubby and meet people with him by your side.

    keep me posted.xx

    Hi Army_wife, welcome to RP.

Hope you find the place helpful, as Red says there is likely to be someone in the same situation.

Hi and welcome to the site!
Hopefully you will be able to meet some good contacts on here!
Don't let your age affect making friends! and as said give yourself a focus like learning to drive!!

    Hello Army-wife.
Things will get better for you.
The younger wives always seem to find themselves isolated, its a damn shame because I bet ladies like you are much more interesting to be around than half the curtain twitchers I have come accross in the last 6 years!

    Keep smiling.
