If he fails that he will be discharged. He went off to Dartmoor on Saturday and we were hoping for a call last night but nothing. Trying to decide if he doesn't want to be convinced to stay and see it out or was just busy trying to get everything cleaned up. People say no news is good news but with Adam i tend to think the opposite. Does anyone fail 3 kit musters in a row?
A sock problem?!?! You see this is the bit I don't understand about the army/navy/RAF there are STUPID rules that do not relate in any way to job performance/ability etc. There is no point, just no point at all!

Thanks Trix I couldn't agree more!! He is doing really well apart from kit, really loving it, passing everything else, been told he's got a good attitude etc. I cant understand this obsession with kit to such a degree. I know they have to be taught the basics of how to look, maintain kit etc, but this is so not relevant to what will be their day to day life after passing out. They still have chinese laundries on ships, and washing machines at shore bases so hopefully they will never have to handwash stuff again. I just don't get it either!!

The obsesion with kit makes for lovely clean houses!
My OH does al the ironing when he is home in about half the time it takes me!
I do agree the the amount of c**p they can fail you on is stupid, just think how house trained he will be when he comes home!

Good luck to ur boy hope he dosen't give up!
    Keep smiling

    House trained? Ohhh I wish!

My bf might be a dab hand with an iron when he can be bothered, but I think he missed the course about house training

Only time I've seen him interested in cleaning was when he brought a new hoover and we fought over who'd be the first to use it. Well, it was entertaining to see the amount of dirt spinning round the cylinder (for all of 2 secs anyway!)

    BTW ello sandygib!

Congrats to hear! Glad he finally got through it, bless hinm though but it will build his personality up and give him more independance and a sense of stability. Sounds stupid but you get knocked down, best thing to do is get back up and fight.

RN basic is great, he'll hate it for now but he'll look back on it and think WOW what good times

Thanks Josephine, you are right and I think the big surprise to us was how much he obviously wants this, to hang in there. He's never really tried hard at anything before and we weren't sure he was able to. As you say he will come home a very different lad to the one who left. Hoping that we'll have no more dramas til passing out now - 3 weeks to go.
