    Warwick and the surrounding area

    Hi all,

I am hoping to be going to Warwick Uni next year for a post grad position. My OH will be ready to move around the same time and as I will be there for several years (fingers crossed) he wanted to move to the area- get a place etc.

I have tried looking online but does anyone know of any army bases nearby? He has only come up with Birmingham so far which is a bit of a trek and would still mean him living on base instead of with me. My other option is Southampton and I know he could move there easily but I have a real preference for warwick!?!

He has said we will still get the house where I decide to go and he will visit at weekends. If I can come up with somewhere though I know it will surprise him!?

    Thanks!!

There's a camp in Nuneaton which is around 30 mins drive from Warwick, but I don't know who is based there. Here's the HIVE link - contact them and see what information they can give you.

I think Nuneaton is at least partially a Sig's camp, mr scoobs bil is there (and is R.Sigs).
Heaven wont have me, hell is scared I'll take over. Time for the pub!

On the move this weekend. Not sure yet where I'm going or when I'll get there.....hope theres enough vodka in the car.

I went to Warwick uni and if you're living in Coventry (which is where Warwick uni is, for any who don't know) Birmingham is a half hour hop on the train, so not so bad (though I'm not sure where the army base is in relation to the main Birmingham train stations).
When I was there I lived in Chapelfields, and it was nice (though this was about 12 years ago).

fingers crossed ill be in the med school so its more leamington spa, Birmingham isnt too far but he is reluctant to go there. My OH can move to pretty much any base but I will respect his privacy and not say what he does unless he would like me to.
Thanks for all the advice though it is definitely something to look into and fingers crossed!!

a bit late but Kineton is about 10 miles from Warwick, Bicester is a couple junctions down the M40.

Around Birmingham there is lots of medical units and TA centres along with a signals unit at Nuneaton.

If you need to know anything about Birmingham then let me know, I am a born and bred Brummie!

Also, there is Whittington Barracks between Tamworth and Lichfield, although I am not sure who is based there!

30 Sigs are at Nuneaton (Bramcote) it is approx 30 min drive from Warwick and not commutable by public transport (cos there isnt any really). There is also a huge housing shortage (there are none) except my old house that i moved from a month ago lol. Seriously though, they are tending to put couples with no kids in rented accomm just now. Kineton a better place geographically for you. If u get 30 Sigs pm me, I know stuff lol......
They said it could'nt be done, so I did'nt do it
