Rules, Aims and Complaints
THE PLATINUM DIAMOND ENCRUSTED RULE: NO TEXT SPEAK M8!
ALMOST AS IMPORTANT: No condolence threads.
AIMS
The aim of Rear Party is to provide a useful, informative and amusing site for friends and families of the armed forces.
PRINCIPLES
1. The site is not a soapbox for those with extremist views.
2. Site content should in general be suitable for early teens upwards.
3. All are welcome, whether falling into 'friends and families' or just curious.
4. Moderation will be stricter than on ARRSE and Rum Ration.
POSTING STANDARDS
The following describes acceptable posting in the site, which is split in to two areas of 'seriousness'. Please observe the regulations - they are to ensure that there is something for everyone. A varied and large user group is in the interests of all.
Applicable to all boards, the following are NOT allowed:
a. Breaches of Operational Security - deployment of units, dates of non-public military events etc. If in doubt, don't post it.
b. Use of real names, disclosure of personal information (addresses etc) or the identification of anyone through indirect reference - post, nickname etc.
c. Hardline extremist views and racism in particular.
1. The "WARNING - not for the easily shocked" area of the forums.
This exists to allow our users to conduct the pointless bickering, personal vendettas and utter drivel that is the mainstay of any web site. While rules here are much more relaxed than elsewhere, extreme swearing or offensive posting will not be tolerated. This is not "The NAAFI Bar".
2. The Remainder.
The remainder of the boards are more strictly moderated, but the exact policy and tone of the board will vary in each depending on subject matter and the moderator's rules, which will often be given at the top of the forum in question. The Current Affairs board will be at the more strict end of the spectrum for example.
In most forums the following will be limited or disallowed by the moderators:
a. Thread hijacking where an argument/slagging match is carried over from elsewhere.
b. Totally pointless points.
c. Extreme swearing and abuse of other users.
and in the more serious this is likely to be extended to:
d. Taking thread off topic
e. Moderate swearing / abuse of other users.
f. Non-contributory posting ie pointless ranting.
MODERATORS
The site moderators exist to ensure that the site is managed in accordance with the policy detailed above. They are to decide how the policy is implemented in their own forum and may wish to post details of their moderation policy.
Please respect the moderators' decisions, but if you have any complaints about moderation policies, write to admin@rearparty.co.uk.
In general the site admin will support the moderators and there is a policy of "if you don't like the policy of a moderator, then don't use his / her forum, there are plenty more."
ADVERTISERS
Before 'spamming' Rear Party with your wares please ask - admin@rearparty.co.uk. Most of the time we'll say 'yes'. Otherwise a moderator will remove your post within milliseconds of you posting and the user account will be removed.
