Nice one BCO . Come on guys and gals get blogging!
Right well I've kicked it off....
Who is next??
Me!
As you'll see, I've been really busy (where is the 'talking out of my arrse' smiley when you need it?)
Done
Have made the bosses aware that the facility to leave comments for the blogs appears to be broken - so hopefully it will be sorted soon.
Sluice
...... which it is! Thanks Sluicey for letting us know.
More new blogs functionality - Read all about it here
Will it be all fuffy and stuff and moderated to the hilt Bad CO?
Bossybitch says......Problem?
Seems to be copying the new blogs across. However, would it be possible to create a new Forum called, let us say, "Blogs" for them to copy into?
That way, I can find Jim's stuff more quickly than wading through Jungle Drums.
I'm still having a problem sometimes with accessing the Blogs (or indeed anything) that lives in the More RP! drop down and in the past have had to get to them through going to Jim's profile and through the linky there.
Incidentally, for les autres bloggeurs , you can edit your blog retrospectively to include pics, as I've done for my first entry.
I have a deep yearning for Sloosy's packing crate pics, but it would also be lovely to see a pic of Foxylady's daughter's passing out parade and such like.
Good idea - now done. Am going to see if I can get blogs added retrospectively.
The problem with the menu is almost certainly related to javascript settings on your PC or network.
Following the changes it seems that my default configuration is to have comments on my blog disabled.
I have searched for a way to enable comments but can't find it (probably due to my being thick). Help please, COs?
Edited to add that 'Allow user comments' is set to yes, but there is still a message to the effect that the user (me) has disallowed comments.
And with that he picked up the bloody old towser by the neck and, by Jesus, he near throttled him.
Indeed Jim.
Jaye and Pad managed to add comments to my blog, but then it was locked somehow and I can't make a witty reply.
I couldn't have made a witty reply anyway, come to think of it, but I can't even post a dull one.
Is it something to do with the permissions in the Blog forum? The whole Blog Forum seems to be locked.
We need a Mod for it. Vote Jim for a brighter future and modded Blogs.
I think you should be able to add comments now - please let me know. Can you also try adding comments via both the thread and the blogs module.
LJ - can you try creating a new blog and see if the comments are still disabled?
P.S Like the idea of LJ as blogs mod - will sort out later
BCO,
I did as you suggested and posted a test blog entry, asking people to try to comment. People were able to comment on the thread that gets automatically generated but not on the 'Discuss this' feature in the blog section itself. If you click on 'Discuss this' you get taken to an error page which says that the topic you are looking for does not exist.
I'm sure this is not insurmountable, and in the meantime at least people can comment via the thread if they wish.
Thanks for all the work!

They all seem ok now - I wonder if this is broken until you get one comment? Could you try again and check this?

BCO,
I think I've found the source of this problem, if not the remedy to it. It seems to depend on how you gain access to the blog section.
If you use the pull-down 'More RP' menu, then click on blogs, you can read or post comments without difficulty.
However if you go to 'my account', then 'my blog' (I do this so as not to add to the number of times read my blog clocks up) and try to use the 'discuss this' option you get directed to the error page saying that this topic does not exist.

Get Jim the Mod lycra suit of power, and the pointy-hat of the techno geek![]()
