    Moving to/ From Germany Q&A's

Hi everyone, we are being posted to Fallingbostel in October. I'm in the process of filling out forms for a new quarter and was wondering if anyone had any idea on the best MQ areas to ask for as I know there are quite a few?
Also does anyone have any idea what needs to be done to take my dog out, I can only seem to find information for when I want to bring her back to the UK.
My Hive is closed at the moment because they are re-locating and I'm having the usual worries trying to sort it all out while he's away. Thanks in advance x

This is the DEFRA info ref pet movement in the EU. Unless you've had your dog microchipped and rabies-vaccined already, you might want to look into seeing if anyone can dog-sit till your dog is allowed to move into Germany as I've currently two cats in quarantine (from Singapore) and it's not only expensive but a bit emotionally stressful.
    Holy Cow!

    hello

well fally is small but ok you got the bigger towns all close by, i grew up there so if you have any questions i will be happy to try to answer them!
as far as quaters go try to get heidemark since that is the better end to be (no offence to anybody on interbau) there isnt many houses in fally so you are likley to get a flat but it is always what you make out of a posting which turns it good or bad.
hope you will enjoy your posting

    Re: Help needed - Fallingbostel

    hi,

A lot of the quaters have been recently renovated and some are still being done. Heidemark is ok if you drive and thats where the houses are but as mentioned there isn't that many. Oerbke berg has the larger 4 bedroom flats all been renovated and are very nice, Interbau (i think thats what its called) is ok the front of the estate is a mess but it is in the process of being redone and the renovated flats are very good i believe. Also it is quite close to camp. It is a nice area to live and quite central not to far from Hamburg, Hannover and Bremmen. Not much to do in Fally itself but its what you make it.

Hope this helps a little bit, good luck with your move.

Link to Fallingbostal Hive here http://www.hive-bfg.co.uk/Fally.htm

Fally isn't so bad - at least it has a decent NAAFI, and as previously stated the surrounding areas are really nice and its also very convenient for the autobahn (motorway)

If you need any more info please shout

    Me again,

There are plenty of restaurants, the Italian is great, both chinese are good and one delivers, the ice cream parlour is fab, there are numerous supermarket type things not huge but they are good. As Sluicy said the Naafi is very good and quite big and the people in the Hive are very nice.

    Hi Prinzessin

I'm getting a bit worried about all these baby development signatures which are suddenly appearing - I hope it's not catching!

    Hi,
Just go to the Medical Centre once you have moved into your quarter in Rhinedahlen. They will register you and they will either give you the number for the midwifes to make an appt or make an appt for you. (Im not too sure how they do it in JHQ). The midwives are all english.

    Hope this helps
