Things to do/ places to go etc

Unfortunatly I haven't been in the country that long this time so haven't been out and about much. However, if people have been anywhere that they have really enjoyed please share it with us or if you hear of anything that you think may intrest others please feel free to add it to the list.

    Thanks

    Munster zoo.... Excellent day out!!!

Loads to do and see, walk through the monkey house, feed the elephants, too much to mention.
    Would definately reccomend it.

Dont think it was to expensive either. Myself, my husband and my daughter went, and I dont think it was more than about 25 euros.

Went for a day out in Venlo last weekend - loads of great shops and café's and stuff. Probably loads of other stuff to do as well but I wanted to shop.

Apparently if your a bit of a music buff it has an awesome music shop (must admit i was a bit impressed with it although I couldn't find a ska section!).

Also found a little pet shop that sold animals including fish and all the accessories required for them (not seen any in this neck of the wood's that actually sell the animals themselves).

Only one thing that I didn't like - why do the Dutch charge so much for fuel!!

If you're in the Fallingbostel town, go along the river coz there's a gorgeous little pub/food place on the river itself (they do kayaking too!) that has a crazy golf area and at night it's so romantic and quiet

Apparently they have live bands sometimes too

Alexander's bar in Walsrode is good, as well as Le Monde's

Anyone in Elmpt with kids and want a good day out, I advise to go to Holland and visit "The Efteling" in Tilburg. It's a Themepark with fairytales as the Theme.

    Or Movieworld in Bottrop Germany.
The best kebab is to get in Roermond town, called antiochia. Just ask the locals or one of the barmen in the King ;o)

Anyone ideas for Herford area? Except H2O cause I love that one already!!!

Hannover is supposed to be really nice - only been to the airport. The other advantage is it is reasonably close to the autobahn so easy to get to lots of places

Will keep that in mind. Hubby's been there on the piss once. He loved it, but it's very big and easy to get lost in he said...

Bielefeld is fairly good for shopping if you are up Herford way, or the Werre Park in Bad Oeynhausen, its a shopping mall of sorts, not on the scale of UK but OK. Nothing that exciting in Herford, been here nearly 3 years, would go back to Bruggen, or Elmpt is it is know these days tomorrow. Moved there when the Army took it over and loved every minute of being there

I've only ever visited Germany, never lived there, but I can heartily suggest Berlin is worth a weekend, especially in the run-up to Crimbo when the markets are on.

If you can travel further afield, Vienna is even better for Cristmas Markets and cultural stuff.

Leipzig was very interesting, with a cracking nightclub for you young folk at the Moritz Bastei, and for the lover of WW2 Films, Colditz Castle isn't far away.

Used to live in Hannover, stay away from the Steintor................

On another note, if you can be arsed driving to Walsrode - theres a Bird Park there http://www.tourismus.hannover.de/htm...gelpark_e.html if you can be bothered with the drive. Or theres http://www.niedersachsen-tourism.de/...park/index.php

I went to both a few times as a Pads brat and loved them. Good days out especially in the summer.
