    Advice needed please!!!

    Hiya Everyone!!
Wondering if anyone had some advice for me??

Been with OH for nearly 5 years and always spoken about one day starting our family.
He went to a sandy place a few months ago and still has a few more to go!
Within two weeks of him being there we had ''the chat'' and both decided it was time for me to come off the pill in preparation for his return!
We are both very excited but here's the thing . . . 4 months later and no period!! Doctor says to just wait it out as had been on pill for many years so will take time!
Friends are talking about Agnus Castus??

Anybody used this or knows if it works? How to take it, how much etc??
    Any help would be great!!
    Thanks x x x x

If you google agnus castus you'll find all sorts of information about its uses etc. It comes in tablet and tincture form but beware it tastes bloody awful if you use it in the latter!
I can't decide whether to be a good example or a horrible warning

Thanks Charlie_Five!! Will have a nosey around!

WhiteRose if only it was that easy hey!!
I had never heard of it either thats why I am a bit apprehensive about giving it a go! Just wondered if anyone had used it on here or had any other advice!
But 2 months left until the OH is back so would really like to be sorted out by then, suppose its the old try anything once scenario!!
If only they explain about all this before you go on the pill, I don't think I would have bothered in the first place!!

be aware you MAY still be ovulating even though you're not having periods, so you could still fall pregnant.

Bigbirds right, why not try a temperature chart or ovulation kit? I'm all for nature sorting things out, I've heard so many horror stories of over interference causing more damage than good.

I would err on the side of caution and make an appointment to see the nurse or doctor. Not because I think there is definately something wrong, but just to be sure in your own mind

    Re: Advice needed please!!!

Hope you don't mind input from someone with a Y-Chromosome on this. The link from arrse caught my eye, having been through something similar and following other pregnancy issues.

Firstly - don't worry. The average time to conception is 7 months. See attached:

    http://www.ined.fr/en/everything_abo...me_conception/

There are other issues which will affect this and I won't ask for personal details for fear of offence but think about:

    1. How long you were on the pill - sometimes it can take time for your body to fall back into routine.
    2. Your BMI. If you're not carrying some fat, you can stop ovulating. Similarly, being overweight can affect conception.
    3. His lifestyle - testosterone is depressed by a midriff and smoking or drinking too much are bad for motility too.
    3. Your age. See attached:

    http://www.babycentre.co.uk/preconce...eandfertility/

Channel 4's Sex Education show also did a good episode on fertility. You might be able to catch it on 'on-demand'.

Predicting ovulation is a haphazard affair, as many couples practising the rhythm method will testify (or parents as we call them).

In short, the best advice is to keep having sex. A lot. Month round. And take time to have a lie-down afterwards. Your chap can send the cheque through to me. As an aside, wifey and I now have two boys conceived without any intervention - I hope that's encouragement.

Sorry - I did not see this post before I replied. Brilliant idea, but also if the GP gives you the all clear, why not try some reflexology. I have heard some brilliant stories about reflexology - and accupuncture come to that.

    sorry - warbling.

Just re-read your post properly and now realised you've not been trying to conceive for 4 months. ops:

The comments on BMI/pill probably still stand.

I'll stick to politics/economics/defence policy on arrse from now on; rear party's obviously too complicated for me.

    Best of luck, anyway.

    Re: Advice needed please!!!

I was on the pill for 6 years and it took me 18 months to concieve (there was another issue too though endometriosis) but advise given to me by my doctor was from day 10 to day 18 of my cycle ( my cycle was crazy!) was to have sex three times, I was not too happy about this!!! but apparently sperm survives for up to 72 hours and not too confuse the little buggers to give them chance!!! But as with everyone else if your are worried see a doctor or nurse first before trying anything sometimes your body just needs to adjust.

    Re: Advice needed please!!!

It took me nearly 18 months to conceive after coming off the pill. My periods went loopy and my cycle got longer and longer (until it reached 100 days) then got shorter again and finally when it got back to a normal length I got pregnant. I had started down the fertility testing route but really I just needed time. Easy to say though, when you've decided you want to get pregnant you just want it to happen NOW! The other 2 times I've got pregnant really easily so I think it just took a long time for the effects of the pill to wear off. Give it time, I'm sure it will sort itself out on its own.

    Re: Advice needed please!!!

I don't post often anymore but do stick my nose in to see what's going on. I'm currently 3 days "overdue," and I was on the Pill for about 11 years before coming off last year. We fell pregnant within a couple of months of trying (I thought it'd take much longer).

Anyway, I tried seeing when I was ovulating first of all. You can get super cheap kits (OPKs) on e-bay as well as cheap pregnancy tests. I also took Agnus Castus and Evening Primrose Oil capsules. As said before, if you do an internet search, it'll give suggested ways of taking it. If you look at pregnancy forums, there's usually a TTC (trying to conceive) section that may have some ideas.

    Re: Advice needed please!!!

Hi I had the same question this time last year (look back at my post!)
Nearly identical scenario, made the decision to 'go for it' whilst he was in Afgan (they must have FAR too much time on their hands out there  ) and came off the Jab in Feb (been on it for 10yrs) ready for his return in June, but periods had not returned. We carried on like usual knowing that it still could happen but nothing. periods returned in Sep and now over 4 months pregnant
Came to the conclusion that every one is different, some couples take years, others just a month or 2 and that applies whether they been on pill/jab etc for a long time or not at all!!

Until then, be patient - when he gets back - plenty of practice (as if you need telling that after a tour!) and I wouldn't worry too much this early on cos that won't help things get back to normal either. all the best & keep us updated  xx

    Re: Advice needed please!!!

Mrs BC started with contraception quite soon after No1 child, we then decided we would like a No2 child, lots of whingeing and moaning and all my fault you understand, Mrs BC became pregnant when No1 was 15 months old, so they are now er er er yes 2 years 2 months apart.

Having kids is pretty wonderful, we had been married a few years, had just doubled our mortgage on our second house, I had told my boss to shove his job up his arrse. Gets home mrs is glowing

I'm pregnant, I danced around the room before telling her I jacked at work.
