    Cheats

Every day in the papers another affair, betrayal or serial cheat is exposed.
    can ANYONE stay faithful anymore???

This year already we have read about Tiger Woods & his string of mistresses, John Terry has been a very bad boy & today Vernon Kay has not been exactly behaving himself.

Is it just me that finds it really depressing and wonders if any marriage can last in these times.

PLEASE NOTE I have not/am not having an affair... this is not a hypathetical question

    Me, I can stay faithful!

Celebrity wise, I don't know. They seem to get married for publicity these days which is not a good start.

I don't think many of them marry for love anymore it's all about publicity, ratings, front page coverage etc, those that do must struggle in the public eye but then again it doesn't have to be that way, look at Johnny Depp ( I mean just look at him he is soooo yummy) and Vanessa Paradis they've been together ages live out of the spotlight and seem to be very happy. I suppose for some it's all about the money and fame.

Whilst I couldn't really, truly, give a rat's backside about "celebrities" - I won't start on those who are celebrities because someone buys the rubbish magazine they appear in and haven't actually done anything noteworthy   to deserve publicity - it has to come down to the ego.

Some "hot" bit of stuff has stroked his ego, with a desire to do a bit more. I don't follow celebrity nonsense if I can help it but even I know he's married to someone called Tess Daly, who used to be a model ( :?: ) so it's not like the other girl didn't know he was married (local celebrity? Course she knows)

All utter tripe...ego. I hope his wife kicks his backside into next year and beyond.

    Re: Cheats

Its a bit of a coincedence especially as one report states that she has a baby book coming out in nine days. I can only guess that it was too late to get herself on Loose Women etc, although no doubt her agent is getting lots of calls today.

Everyone is a winner, her book gets free publicity, they get media coverage and earn money via hello, ok, heat etc and the page 3 girl gets media coverage and notoreity.

    I really am too cynical.

My OH's big grey war canoe is his mistress!

She takes him away from me - sometimes very far away, feeds him, waters him, keeps him busy, gives him a place to sleep, dictates his time with me, can throw a hissy fit and change our plans...

Those ships are not called 'she' for nothing! (OK, pre-Wrens on board, I know).

In my book, yep. Certainly contributed to the downfall of a previous relationship, amongst other things.

Cheating of this scale has been going on in 'celeb' land or at least Hollywood and the political arena for donkeys. JFK had Secret Service guys hold his wife in another room whilst he shagged some bird. Natalie Wood was on a boat with her husband and her 'alleged' lover when she drowned in suspicious circumstances.

Audrey Hepburn, my heroine couldn't keep her knickers on for long either. The casting couch is no myth. Wherever you get rich, beautiful people you will have a veritable shag fest going on, it's nothing new.

What is relatively new is the media reporting on every breath, sneeze and fart, and w@nk of these so called celebrities.

Quite franky who gives a flying rats arrse?

My bold - completely agree (I have a secret stash of movie magazines from the 50s and 60s which are stunning).

Depends on what kind of relationship you have I think. If you and your partner trust one another NOT to act on flirting then I suppose it's within the the boundaries you've set for one another.

However if I saw mucky texts from my husband to another woman I would string him up by the short and curlies before hunting her down for a good old kick in the sponge!

'To the wives & sweethearts - may they never meet'

Of course it has always gone on, not just for the rich & famous, but i think more than ever these celebs are role models & the big brother generation aspires to be 'famous' and live their lives like the WAGs & Jordan.
& back in Hepburn's day there wasn't the evidence plastered on the front pages every morning with texts and pap pics to illustrate.

I think that more than ever there's opportunity not only to cheat (internet etc) but the means to persue it with emails & texts (not having to go down to the phone box in the dark 5 streets away to make a sneaky call).
But then again... that also leaves a trail of evidence to get caught out on too. so I guess the opportunity is high but so are the chances of getting caught!

I guess what i'm trying to say is that YES of course cheating has always gone on, but is it becoming so accepted now, that we no longer aspire to stick it for the long run. Is it now too easy & acceptable to jump ship??

    Re: Cheats

Slightly off topic but I see that Kerry Katona is in the papers today because she has been to boot camp and lost a stone - just a stone for a £2k stay at a army-style bootcamp. She could have done the Essex Detox (Yakult, Diet Coke and Ex Lax three times a day for 48 hours) for under a fiver and lost twice as much.

It's just about the only thing that'd be worth the license fee. Can Jordan be first, closely followed by that Go Compare tw*t (I know he's not a celebrity but it's close enough)?
