    Guardian Weekend magazine feature

    Hey people,

I received this the over day, its gen, so don't worry! If you'd like to help, please do not hesitate to contact the belwo number, address, email or Becky's RP I.D. Towan.

    Laters!

    Dear Josephine,

I hope you don't mind me contacting you, but I thought you might be able to help with a feature I'm working on at Guardian Weekend magazine.

We're currently putting together a special issue of the magazine, dedicated to the brave soldiers who are fighting, or have fought in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Our idea is to compile a collection of letters between those serving, and their friends and families back home.

I think this will be a really important feature. All too often wars are reported on with no real consideration for the people who are fighting in them. We think it's vitally important that the human lives behind the conflict are represented - and what better way to do that than in the words of the soldiers themselves.

If you are in touch with anyone who you feel might be able to help with this, or if you can help yourself, I would be extremely grateful. Please feel free to email me with any questions at becky.barnicoat @ guardian.co.uk.

    Many thanks,

    Becky Barnicoat

    Re: Guardian Weekend magazine feature

Hello everyone - I just want to add a little note of reassurance. I completely understand how sensitive this subject is, but the feature is going to be a really positive, amazing piece.

I hope some of you want to take part - I think it's so important that people hear first hand about the experiences of soldiers fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.

If you've got any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to contact me - my details are in the original message.

    Many thanks!

    Becky

BCO has given the go ahead for this, I think Becky has approached Arrse also.

Not conneted with the paper in anyway, other than an reader.
Feature appears in todays weekend magazine for anyone interested.

Article mixture of anonymous and named service people (sadly most of those named never returned). Really interesting insight into what things are like out there and the thoughts and feelings of those serving.
