Is it worth knocking on your neighbours doors and asking if anyone either has space in their freezer, or can lend you cool bags or boxes?

Ice in the sink is a good one or freezing water in the bath, it may not last the 6 hours but it'll give it a good go lol

wrap it in layers of newspaper in batches (not individually),lots of layers, put it in the bath with all the ice cubes/camping iceblocks you can find, then put layers of newspaper all over the top and an old folded blanket cover the WHOLE lot with foil (or a space blanket)! It should stay frozen for a good lot of hours!!

Then use a hair dryer to defrost the old one, you can do it in under an hour, so you can keep the food out for the least possible time

cheers for ideas girls, jason has just gone out to stock up on ice cubes and tin foil, hes should be back in half hr then by the time he gets back i can start moving it all to the bath leaving me with an hr and half before the fridge-freezer gets here, i was also told by 1 person that you have to leave your fridge-freezer for 24hrs before plugging it in, but then was told as long as it had been transported upright its fine to plug in straight away Hmmmm

its usually to allow the gases to settle, but as long as it hasn't been chucked about, it should have been transported up right, I wouldn't worry about it. Just try not to open the freezer door for a good 12 hours so it can get to agood temp

Even if you can't plug it in, load it up with all the stuff as it'll be the most insulated place in the house and the frozen food will help get it down to working temp. I switched mine on after 1 hr and it was fine!

I never leave mine to stand and after 9 moves it's not dead yet! Modern fridges just don't really need it unless they've been handled really badly during delivery.
