Main priority has got to be to keep warm! Personally, I'd go with smart skirt and shirt, lovely knee length boots and a good coat splashed with a gorgeous scarf. I, personally, am not a hat person but you could if you liked. A bit like what I'd wear to remembrance day I suppose. That doesn't help you much does it?!
The only one I experienced was via a video and I watched it in my jammies and slippers- Although I am not sure that would pass at york racecourse- best go with bodgers advice![]()
I wore a smart dress (what I'd call a work dress, something I'd wear to the office) and big thick coat. I'd say anything like smart skirt/trousers would be fine. What Bodger said sounds good - and a damn sight warmer than I was. Won't make that mistake again!
thanks bodge its give me an idea i think it will be outside even if its cold . but yorkshire can be really cold.ive not been to this before so its all new to me
I wore smart trousers, jumper and big thick coat to my hubbies medal parade last year, it was feb in Germany and freezing cold!!
Smart trousers or trouser suit. Long overcoat with scarf and gloves (hat too if you wear them). Loads of layers underneath. Comfy shoes/boots. Take tissues. Have a fabby day xx
When the going gets tough - drink wine!!
Bodger sort of summed up everything I was going to write, but am I the only one who thought "hipflask" lols xx
me

I think everyone has covered this brilliantly, my one add on would be to consider carefully footware. If it's outside and on grass then don't wear heels, if necessary take some heels to change into for the reception afterwards, oh and don't forget a brolly, there is nothing worse than leaving home and feeling a million dollars, and by the time the parade starts feeling like a drenched rat.
Have a wonderful day.

Chaos, panic, disorder, my work here is done!
I second all this... to my OH's parade I wore dark smart jeans, smart flat boots, warm jumper and a thick wool coat, gloves and a bright red pashmina. I was warm enough and didn't feel over dressed. Wish I could have done the hipflask thing but had to drive an hour home afterwards!
