    swimming caps

Can anyone recommend a swimming cap which actually keeps the hair dry? I bought a speedo one and went swimming today but it didn't keep my hair dry. The pool hasn't got a hairdryer (it's in a school which hires out facilities out of hours) and I don't want to walk home with wet hair in cold weather

Personally, I have always found with my daughter that the caps sold in poundland etc were better at keeping the hair dry, but they only last 8 to 10 visits. So it does prove quite expensive.

What speedo one did you try? I used to use a speedo one and it was brilliant. It wasn't the thin type though, it was really thick more if a gel/silicone rather than just thin rubber. Bit more expensive but well worth it!

Just put a condom on your head....it will keep your hair dry and add comedy value.

They aren't supposed to keep your hair dry! They are supposed to streamline you and take away the viscous drag created by your hair. (Sorry ex swimmer and swimming teacher / coach [blush])

I always use speedo silicone, they are fabulous quality but they don't even remotely keep my hair dry (mind-you I have waist-length curls - they take up rather a lot of space in there). I find the best thing to do with my hair is to gather it at the nape of my nack and then twist it tightly and tuck it up underneath itself (french twist?) as it gives the flattest finish.

To stand a chance of keeping your hair dry you need a perfect seal round your head with no stray strands of hair poking out.

Maybe those flowerly old lady caps (they cover about 90% of your head)!!!
So far today I've done alright. I haven't gossiped, I haven't lost my temper, I haven't been greedy, grumpy or very indulgent. But in a few minutes, I'm going to get out of bed, and from then on, I'm going to need a lot more help.

that would thoroughly embarrass the poor lifeguards - they are 17-18 year old boys and I was the only person using the pool

Would it not be possible to take a travel hairdryer with you? you can get some really dinky ones that fit in a handbag. Just an alternative suggestion.
All the cool kids have a signature but I have nothing witty or profound to say.
