    Southwick Park married quarters

We've just been allocated a quarter at Southwick Park (old HMS Dryad). It was our second choice purely as we had to put something! Does anyone know what the houses are like, what the area is like etc? We've got two small children so I'm not looking forward to the propsect to being stuck out in the middle of nowhere having to drive for 30 mins just to go to a playgroup, also we need a decent fulltime nursery for when I go back to work next year. Any info would be gratefully appreciated.

    Thanks.

I have absolutely no idea where the quarters are for Southpark, the unit itself is kinda by itself in the middle of nowhere, there is a pub I understand but as trainees we weren't allowed to use it. Port Solent and Portsmouth are a 15/20min drive away and are pretty good, shopping and everything wise. No idea about nursery I'm afraid but could try and find out as a mate lives down there - civilian though.

I live at Southwick Park. Which road are you on? The houses on Norton are very small and parking can be an issue. The houses on Boulter Lane are bigger with garages and drives. The whole estate, houses and public areas are a little tatty. When you march in check for cleanliness whilst the Housing Officer is there, Ideal cleaners are certainly not Ideal around here!

I think the nearest schools are in Wickham or Denmead.

It is a bit out of the way, the village has a small shop (which includes the post office & tearooms), 2 pubs and a small brewery. You do need to drive as there is no bus service.

I really like it here, you are tucked away in a country village, but not too far away from life! Our house backs onto fields and woods.

I'm away today, but happy to take a look at the house for you.
