If it's any consolation, we've just received a March out date of 9th May, today being the 21st April, but we haven't actually been told where we are moving to yet, never mind got dates for removals etc. I'd say that Aldershot HIC are about as much use as mud flaps on a Tortoise. I think the term communication is probably absent from their vocabulary.

Aldershot HIC is run by a bunch of semi literate robots. Definitely not human.

I'm just going to totally ignore them! If they wish to turn up for a March Out, and we're still here furniture and all... what on earth are they going to do about it? it's their time they are wasting not mine

Ok, this is unbelievable, so much so, that I'm going to put it down here to basically stop me from going over to Aldershot HIC and doing something I regret to someone over there.

    Lets start from the beginning.

April 4th: They write and tell us that our application for retaining the quarter under surplus accommodation has been refused, and if we haven't started the process of moving by April 15th they would start eviction proceedings.

April 5th: We submit the application for SFA electronically, asking for a Move in date of May 1st (it had been a quick posting and Hubby was already commuting.

April 16th: We receive an email acknowledging receipt of the application for SFA (sent you will remember on the 4th) and stating that they have 15 working days from the acknowledgement email (which was 5 working days after it had been sent in allowing for bank holidays).

April 21st: We get a written copy of the email (why?) and a letter telling us a pre-march out has been booked for May 9th.

Now just keep in mind that we have requested May 1st as take over day, as they appear to be in a hurry to get the quarter back, and OH is already commuting 100 miles a day, and we only had 2 weeks notice of his posting. They obviously think that we still will be in situ by May 9th as it's only a pre march out they've booked. (You'd think after 32 years I'd know how to hand over a quarter wouldn't you?).

April 23: I phone them, to find out when we are likely to get an address. I get this snotty woman on the phone, who finds the application, and says that she's far too busy to give us an address. The office is understaffed, and there's paperwork everywhere, and she simply doesn't have the time. The Housing Allocations Manager is apparently on holiday for two weeks as well.

I ask if her job is not being covered?

She says it is, and by her, but she simply doesn't have the time to do anything so it's just tuff. I point out, that it was them stating they were in a hurry to get the quarter back, she agreed and said that she just didn't have the time to sort out allocations, and to be frank didn't care anyway. When I pointed out that the people that were suffering were the service families she was supposed to be employed to look after, and it was a rediculous situation, she got very offensive. I said it was rediculous and I would be taking it further, and I was told to 'please do so, by all means, she wished I would' (in a sarcastic manner) and put the phone down.

Now, I'm a patient person, but right now, if I wasn't in my office I'd be on the way over there. Anyone know what the complaints proceedure is for the HIC?

    Aldershot Hic MOAN!!!!

Aldershot HIC are a fucking liability! Excuse my french but they are fully deserving of it!!

We marched out by proxy the day before our two weeks (before we had to pay for both quarters) was up. I get a text from my hubby saying the HO told our proxy he didn't receive a proxy form so therefore the March out can't go ahead.

I phone the HIC they say 'we have the proxy its not a problem we'll book you another March out in 2 weeks. I argue that no way am I paying for both quarters when they cocked up not me. They agree.

Last month we paid for our old quarter not this one despite moving in on 21st Feb. I should point out our old quarter is 100 more than the new one. This month hubby is told we wouldn't be paying any rent at all because they didn't have the forms needed to charge rent for this property but the clerk does acknowledge that we SHOULD be in credit because of last months rent. He provides a form and it is in time for it to be charged in this months wage.

Now we have to wait for his pay slip to know exactly what they're going to do but the clerk has said it will be charged from the date we marched out, which means that fairly soon i'll have to battle with Aldershot HIC because they'll charge me for their 2 week cock up!!

If you do decide to go to the office give me a shout! I've got your back!!

    Heli,

OH is now on the case.... and is not in a very 'understanding' frame of mind, after phoning one of the more senior Civil Servants, and all he would say, is 'oh we're so busy and short staffed, it's just not our fault....' I suspect that probably wasn't the best answer to give OH, I believe he has some head honcho's email address now, but if it doesn't improve, it might have to be the papers. Enough is enough, this is the tail wagging the dog.

And another thing, there are a lot of unemployed people out there, if these people are unable to cope with a busy desk, let them go and find another job slightly more to their ability and employ someone who can cope, and who has an idea of what the term Customer Service means. Grrrrrrrrrr

When we were applying for the SFA we're in now we were coming back to somewhere we knew well. I knew exactly where I didn't want to live. I said we'd happily live on any of the other 15 or so roads. But please not this one. Guess what? We got the only one we didn't want. There was no shortage, pretty much a third of the patch was empty and being new builds they couldn't use the excuse they were uninhabitable. We begged for them to reallocate but got sod all out of them. So we had to go with the flow and walk past tens of empty quarters we could have had for the next 18 months.

Sometimes these people in HIC really relish their teeny tiny bit of power. Arseholes.

    Morning Ladies and Gentlemen,

I had a very interesting chat with Cat Calder the AFF Housing Specialist this morning on the problems of the Aldershot HIC. Cat has asked me to pass on to everyone, that everyone is aware of the problems within this department, and there are indeed high level meetings on a weekly basis to try to resolve some of them, although this is going to be a slow process. However, what they do need from everyone is for people to follow the complaints proceedure online, and actually register their complaints. Without this, no matter if you feel it is useless, they cannot say that there are 'x' complaints coming in. No complaints makes it look as though we are all happy with the service.

So please, if you have been badly treated by this office, then please put in a formal complaint through the website.

Well, just an update, cos it's better than East Enders....

I made a formal complaint through the website and heard.... nothing. After 4 days OH phoned them up, and asked them for news on the address, and an update on the complaint which hadn't even been acknowledged. He was told most curtly that they had 10 days to respond to a complaint (that'll be working days, not including bank holidays you will remember). Well I think their 10 days are up tomorrow, of course I have to allow another week, as they send all responses out regardless of how they were received (in this case by email), they send the responses out snail mail and second class post at that. Now if that isn't a waste of money in this day and age, I don't know what is?

We finally received our address on Friday 5th May, when they received the application on 4th April. It also came with a snotty letter saying that we had only given them three weeks notice of intention to move and they had to have up to 3 months notice. You will remember that they had our application for retention for over a month and then turned it down and gave us two weeks to move.... This was after only having a posting order two weeks before the start date of OHs new job.

We now have two weeks to sign and send back our license to occupy, without seeing the property??? what's going on here? these were always signed on march in. I'm about to email them and tell them, we need 15 working days (excluding bank holidays) and then we will send it back second class mail.

Bodger, the situation is farsical. OH is a wreck, but I'm afraid I can only see the ludicrous here. I'm too long in the tooth to get angry, and I'm lucky that I have no kids to change schools etc, if I did it would be a different story. I do however, have a job that is looking promising in Amesbury, and they need me to start asap..... so I do need to shift something.

I'm currently thinking a sledge hammer might be the answer.... or a smart bomb....
