Hi Gober and welcome to RP.

I am a bit further down the road but I used to work in Aldershot. Have you had a look at the patchpedia listings (links at the top of the page in the banner) it might be worth having a quick peek on that.

Don't do it!!!! On a more serious note I was there as a singly living in the block and hated it. I've told Mr M if he ever gets posted to Aldershite he's going on his own and I'm divorcing him!

The area around it is lovely, its just the typical garrison town. Not sure about schooling. I've been told that the married quarters are quite nice though.

HAHA to be honest I think Aldershot gets a bit of a hard time. Its location is actually pretty nice and since all the paras left the town is a lot quieter (ok the pubs and kebab shops are quieter)

I've heard loads of bad things about Aldershot, my husband thinks its on par to where we were before, so if h'es right it's not too bad. Ex Army mate of mine was based there a good few years ago, best years of her life ... until she met her (dick)husband

Heard various on the houses, we've been real lucky so far with big nice houses, so nervous bout where we end up.

Thought I would update and say I am in Aldershot, I absolutly love my house, I like the area I'm in, and have already secured a job. The child is settled into school

The town is still SHIT though!

Aldershot indoor shopping centre was a blessing on a wet November day pushing a baby around in the dry!

    Hey Gober,

I live in Aldershot now and my husband's just been posted to Tidworth, so we've got to move. I like living in Aldershot and am quite loathed to go. The preschool my daughter went to was brilliant (clock tower) and the primary school she'll be starting on Monday looked really great too. The town is what it is?!... but I've felt more comfortable there than i have done in lots of swanky places... people are down to earth nice and helpful... Put it this way... when you're struggling with two kids and a pram through a shop door, i've found people here in Aldershot would grab it for you to help you, in other towns i've been to they'll just let it shut on you and wouldn't think twice about it!

Depends what you like to do Kirsty. We haven't gone anywhere really just the two of us as we have a little. Did venture to the cinema in Guildford which was alright. I have family in Basingstoke so know that area well.

If you came down for visits you could take day trips to London, or search for comedy clubs or something in the nearby area, havent tracked nearby ones yet.

Sure people who have lived here longer can let you know.
