You're not far from Guilford which is a nice place to shop, etc but please don't wear heels when you go there you'll never make it over the cobblestones - especially at 0200 after having drank a bottle of champers.

You are going to need to learn to drive properly. Bordon is a little bit piss pot middle of nowhere ish. If you did drive you could get down to skate land quite easily (A3 I think).

I'll add that Bordon is currently undergoing a butt load of redevelopment since other than the Qtrs most of the military have moved out. So it could very well end up a lovely place to be, but at the moment I'm hearing that roads are a nightmare and theres not much going on locally right now.

I lived in Farnham just up the road for a while and used to head down to Bordon for the countryside - you've got Alice Holt onthe doorstep and the Downs. In terms of stuff to do I'm afraid Gonz is right you'll want to be able to get to Guildford or there's Aldershot and Camberley which are decentish sized towns.

When you say you work in Portsmouth - how do you plan to get there if you don't drive? Trains are a nightmare - Bordon has no station so it'd be Alton - Aldershot -Portsmouth or Guildford - Portsmouth, I wouldnt want to rely on coaches (bus trips are another nightmare!). Trains will take a good 90 mins+ once you factor in the changes and inevitable delays.

I'm not trying to be negative, I looked at moving to Whitehill not long ago which is just south of Bordon and decided against it and thats working under a 20 min drive away (and having a car) as I decided it was just too far from anything resembling my 'life'.

Bordon, Bordon, Bordon. Where the hell do I start?! I recently spent a very weird 9 months in Bordon (about 8.5 months too long). The quarters can be quite nice, depending on where you are.

Like Scoobs said, most of the Army have moved out now so it won't have improved any. It'll just be a bit weirder, if that's even possible.

There's a good monthly comedy club in the old camp school and they do great kids clubs in the holidays. They get some top names in there doing their practice runs. When I was in Bordon the sum total of shops was a Tesco, Wilko, Co-op, Lidl and some little independents too. That could well have changed by now. If you're on the outskirts of Bordon up by the cemetery then the old BOSC might still be standing (just). Cheap beer and wine and salt of the earth locals. Take an open mind and a torch, it's in the middle of a wood.

I think that's about it. Sadly. Make your stay as short as possible!
