Different service, different name. Welfare house, contact house, buckshee quarter going spare. It all amounts to the same thing.

What I'm trying to say is don't expect the regular quarters to be as cack as the 'we're saving this house for visitors cos they're special' quarters.

Fair enough, though in my personal experience with Churchill it is quite the opposite. The short term accommodation was always great and in fact so is the one down near where I live with my Husband now. I was meaning that if they have let the short term accommodation get that bad, i hate to think how bad the long term has got.
I hope for MrsO13's sake I am wrong.

Like I said, the welfare quarters (or short term lets or whatever you want to call them) are never looked after as well as the regular quarters, simply because on a long term let there's always someone in it to have the heating sorted, the decoration fixed and the carpets cleaned etc etc. In other words, somebody has made it a home rather than numerous people flitting in and out not giving a monkeys and/or having the authority to make waves about it.

I hope the Mrs013 isn't having kittens about her new quarter now.

    Hi Mrs013
Sorry for my late reply to this thread... been busy busy!
I currently live on the Churchill and I am due to move at the end of the year down south.... I am gutted! I love the road where I live its fantastic, a real sense of community.

My neighbours are amazing and would do anything for us.. within 2 hours of us getting the keys we had been invited to a street BBQ and we now do lots of events together with the families etc.

My friend lives on the Colgrain and to be honest the houses are alot smaller in my opionion and I prefer the layout of mine but it could depend on the street.

Do you have any idea what road?

Best of luck, and if you want any more inside gossip/info/help please PM me !

I would second that Kathib98 - Out of the four MQ's I have lived in, Churchill had the greatest sense of community. We lived in the houses on Kent that back onto the woods. All the kids played out together, lots of parties & much (friendly) gossiping went on out the front. The houses look far better once your belongings are inside & you've made it a home.

IMO most MQ's are run down now, I cannot believe the state of our current one. DHE/MHS having to cut costs & go for the cheapest contractors...you pay peanuts you get monkeys..so the standard of workmanship is crap!

So glad to hear that there is still a great community on Churchill, I lived there till I was 12 and loved growing up there. Do they still have a place called the ropey?

    Hey,

Only just seen this, have you moved across to Helensburgh yet? If you have - how are you getting on?
