So happy its all finally happening (well it will be in 8 weeks).
Got my new address today from Defence Housing and we move in about 8 weeks! Cant wait to finally be nearer the hubby.
Its going to be all change... a new life so to speak, no more shitty job with stupid self centered naive boss... a chance to be a house mummy for a little while before fingers crossed doing a bit of work I enjoy.
Just wanted to share it with everyone cos its made a crap week alot better.

Hi Kathib98,
I know this is quite an old post, however, figured I'd give it a go anyway!! I'm due to move to Helensburgh in November, so just wondered how you've settled in? and if you possibly have any tips for a slightly apprehensive fellow wag??
Thanks
Nic

Hi Nicole, Welcome to RP (I have not been on line recently as been pretty hectic up here). Helensburgh is lovely, absolutely gorgeous in the Summer and can be lovely in the snow (so I have heard) but pretty horrible in the wet. So far the Summer here has been wonderful, however I fear you will be moving here when its colder.
Depending on which estate you are allocated depends on the size of the houses and what you have applied for, like anywhere you will find people who have had bad experiences and those who have had good. So far we have had no complaints and love it. All the familys in my road (mainly submariners) are lovely and we have street BBQs and tomorrow night we have having a girly night out when the hubbys are home on leave for baby sitting duties.
PM me for tips on any specifics or let me know what things are worrying you mainly. In in all it is what you make it, plenty of events and socials to get involved in if you want to,
speak soon x Kathi

My OH has just been posted up there and I am still in the process of deciding what I'm going to do. Obviously being a [whispers] sinful unmarried couple makes things a little more complicated as I would have to get private rented accom, therefore find a guaranteed job, income etc when he may be away for a considerable amount of time anyway. Also, I'm worried that being in private accom would mean I'm left out of the loop a bit with the other WAGs! Decisions decisions!
Thats just typical Joanne, I'm from Devon area, Helensburgh couldn't really be further for a UK posting!

Watch them midges! They were just getting going when I was up there in June and my rellies reckon they're particularly nasty this year

Avon skin so soft, i have quite a few friends who are golfers and swear by it when golfing at loch lomond. Don't know how they discovered it but seems to keep the midges away.
