hubs shows interest in growing his own veg, so a book about how to grow veg all year round , ad a book on pickles, chutnys and jams.
plus he likes to bake bread, so might get him a book on that.

to be honest , the older you get , i feel the more it is about being with family and having a nice time , then the pressies.
i'm struggling to find summit i want

Jenny - my OH is a nightmare to by stuff for, he always says 'don't bother getting me anything' grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!! What kind of stuff is he into?

Regan21 - The last two of times my OH was away was once over his bday and once over Christmas and I got him silly fun stuff that he and the boys could enjoy! The Hungry hippos board game was a winner apparently Also this site is good for 'boys toys' New Gadgets & Unusual Gifts, Birthday Presents, Toys & Gift ideas for Men, Women and Kids | UK Gadget Shop | IWOOT

I'm on the silly stuff things, if you want to buy something "normal" send him a photo of it among the silly stuff, the fact he has a present and a card, usually helps them to know they are being thought of.
Nothing to see here, move on by....

my other half is on deployment and had no idea what to send him for christmas or his birthday in the end i got him a driving experience day, he can drive a ferrari or lamborghini or other boys toys, it comes as a voucher gift boxed and small enough to send in a shoe box, you also get a year to use it. for chrsitmas i have booked a luxury cottage with hot tub and sauna for when he gets home, i hope these will put a smile on his face, if not i'm sure the novelty gifts and whoopee cushion will do the trick.

When my hubby was away for christmas 2 years ago I just bought silly things, they went off in 2 different boxes. But we were planning a full on Christmas in February when he got back (we've got 2 little girls, so it was more for them!)
I bought things like sudoku toilet roll, a blow up wife, desktop football, other silly things like that. I hunted around the likes of Debenhams/BHS in their christmas bit. Or go onto New Baby Gifts - Christmas Gifts - Romantic Gifts and perhaps send him a box of goodies from there. I sent a huge box to my hubbies regiment for them to share out.

We normally go with £100 and shop together for clothes ect, usually perfume and few smellies after that, and then we shop alone for a special/suprise present and a jokey one.

Unfortunatly this year we are goin to a familys for tea, and the rule is Christmas jumpers all around!! So, me and MrB while we where drunk stupidly said lets buy each other totally ridiculous ones for xmas to wear and pinky promised we'd wear them!!

So does anyone know where to find a bright green jumper with rudolf on the front and a big red nose? tehehe!!

As for sending stuff while they are away, normally fun stuff! not your typical presents really I'd say?

And make sure you check the Christmas posting date for the BFPO address!

    I love Google

My OH is after a smart watch to wear with his 1s and 3s cos his black chunky one doesn't look right apparently Am also buying him all 3 Mick Foley books and then some stocking fillers as well.

This will be the first year we've been together that we've actually been able to afford to buy each other something and it's surprisingly hard to do!

This our first christmas together and he'll still be on tour. I was worrying over what to send but have opted (like many of you have suggested) for a stocking full of silly things - a tube of sweets, christmas socks, a whoopee cushion (cos they all love those lol) and I've bought other presents to keep here for our mini christmas at the end of January. And I love the idea of sending a picture of those gifts under the tree to show they're included at home too so thanks xx

How long is a piece of string question.........

Is there an average length of time shoebox parcels take to get out to the sandpit.

I know............anything between 1 week-6months, but we have had to send contact lenses out to my boy, and he's stuck in camp until he gets them???

I found that my hubby usually had his boxes within a couple of days, and he was at the main camp so can't see it taking longer than that.
