Thread: How To Upload Images

Firstly you need to be registered (instant to do) and log in. You'll then see an upload link on the left side in the lowest menu box. Look at an existing article (eg front page) for some live emample code of do this:

[[Image:name.jpg|left|alt="a picture"]]

That image will go to the left of the text. The 'alt' is the text that someone will see if they have images turned off or the lnik gets broken somehow.

I haven't worked out how to get external images to show, ie. linked from another site. If anyone works it out please post here!

you have to start your message, open the 'preview' pane, and just above it is a little box with an image that resembles a mountain with a sun over it. If you click on it, a pane opens that lets you paste the page address of your picture in, it then embeds your image into your post

Now, how do we do it for the wiki...?

GCO - I actually much prefer being able to upload an image to the wiki then use the image tag code to embed it on a page. Much easier than endless uploads to PB or similar. Given that trade on this wiki is likely to be very very slow, I don't think you'll have a problem with image hosting, especially if everyone plays the game and keeps file size to a minimum.

I've never played with a wiki, properly, and although I know I can't break it, I'm obviously far from your expert-self on it all , wiki-fiend!

Sorry GCO but the 'upload directory (public) is not writable by the webserver' so we can't get images onto the PP.

Any chance of a fix? Probably just flicked an 'On' switch to 'Off' this morning...
