    Waiting for house

Hey ladies, how are you all? havent been on in a while..
Hubby now started his new job with MPGS at RAF Benson. Had our application in and we are now on the system as of last week. Phoned today as have only had e-mail conformation of this and no letter (should we get one confirming this?)
Benson has a waiting list on place, the girl told me today we are 2nd or 3rd on the list as everyone else has much later requirement dates for moving in. She said shed had a property in iimnd for us but had to move another family into it who had had flooding in their house (poor things). Also told me they know folk are marching out next month but havent confirmed dates yet so she cant allocate us anything until they do, then they have to wait 22 days until we could move in? This could mean we could be waiting til April.. My question is why they have to wait 22 days if there is nothing wrong with the house? Seems a bit silly? Could we also say we're happy to move into a property, say waiting for new carpets provided the job has been booked in?
Just dont want to wait too long as we cant afford for him to travel 500 miles every time he has a weekend off.
    Any advice? Things to say?
    Thanks

    Welcome back

Don't know about the house questions but would he not get Get You Home to help with the cost of travel until you can move?

    I think the answer is...

"That MHS must have 15 working days (3 weeks) to prep the quarter and there are cases where DE are not planning for this" so 22 ish days 1 for March out, 3 weeks for cleaning and prep.

You could try asking if you were prepared to take it as is, if you could skip the 22 days and they just note the condition on handover, but it does mean you may have a nasty cleaning job....
Nothing to see here, move on by....

Make sure you get the GYH in the mean time it will help with the cost of the trip- 500 miles will be a nice big ammount too

For the GYH, as long as the Service personnel has his name on the Council Tax/Rent agreement then he should be able to claim GYH as long as he does go to that house at least twice a month.
All the cool kids have a signature but I have nothing witty or profound to say.

MPGS do indeed get GYH. The allocation of SFA is a wee bit different for MPGS, priority will always go to regular serving so poor ol' MPGS can be waiting for fecking ever!

Thanks ladies, now sorting paperwork for him to claim the GYH as hes been told he is entitled to it. Havnt been told we are treated any differently re our housing allocation tho. We did have proplems filling in the forms etc as they arent really designed for our situation! The girl yesterday told me we were placed 3rd on a waiting list of 30 as we are so far apart and other folk do not need a house until June/July whereas we need one in March. We arent entitled to SSFA and we were told we can only get allocated on the base he is working on so we wont get offered a house miles away thank goodness! Unfortunately there has been flooding in some houses there during the cold spell so we missed out on an allocation as families had to be moved from damaged property into the empty ones.
