    Posted to Bulford

So girls, he's been posted to Bulford. We quite like that, I can keep my job and we're in an area we like.
However, we would both like to move from Andover to Bulford - what do you reckon our chances are? And if we do apply for SFA there and get given somewhere else, can we turn it down and stay where we are?

I know SFA's are in short supply in this area generally, but to me it seems silly to post someone in to Andover, have them housed at Bulford and be paying 2 people mileage when they could just so easily swap us over!

Hubby is off to Afghanistan in April 2013 and I'd rather be with the regiment when he goes - I've done it before away from him and I found it quite hard and not a lot of support. I'm quite a strong person usually, it was just hard.

You want to go to Bulford, feck that's a first!
Call up HIC and see what they say, I'd imagine that with the volume of people moving about you may well get told to stay put.
Pull the admin/welfare card and say you want to be around the regiment it may work, also factor in that they could shift you out to Warminster, Devizes anywhere within 30miles of his place of work.

    Good luck x

No idea but have to say I am SO jealous, our best mates are in Bulford and life would be WAY more fun if we were there!

    Enjoy x

Boots - I have to say its not my first choice, but I'd rather have the regimental support I didn't have last time for when he goes off. I really don't like using the welfare/admin card, but will use it if I really have to I suppose. Gotta look after number 1 now adays, the army doesn't seem to give a shit anymore.
Thats what I'm worried about, they'll move us further into Wiltshire when I work in Winchester - what are the rules on turning a MQ down and staying put, considering we're within the 30 miles now?

Pixie, I've got friends at Bulford at the moment and they've told me its ok. I'll be working full time anyway, so none of this coffee morning, childrens meetings etc! Although I do like to get involved in community stuff to a certain degree.

Well spoke to the HIC - we can stay put in Andover, or we can request to move to Bulford and be put on a waiting list for a quarter there. We don't have to take it if we get offered it, and it won't affect our quarter here if we refuse a quarter elsewhere, good news!!

Hi, Mrs M, can I ask how long the commute to Winchester is taking you? I am due to begin my PGCE there this Sep and have just found out we are posted to Bulford in Nov, so wondering how long it will take me to get there.

Also anyone know if the Officers quarters are any good down that way, have got in touch with the Hive, but would be noice to get peoples opinions. I hoping to ask for a 4 bed.
    Many thanks!

Bulford to Winchester is 45 minutes to an hour - on a good day. The Officer's MQs are pretty tatty but a reasonable size. Check out Wexland Avenue on streetview.

Thanks Heli, have had a look via streetview at the officers MQ's for Netheravon (which I think is where Wexland Ave is?) but can only see down the street from the corner, the same for the Bagdhad Road ones in Bulford. Seems like the commute will be similar to what I will have from here (Gosport) so am happy with that!
Excuse the poor spelling hubbies departure to sandy place is iminent and feeling the strain :-/

We're living in Andover so it takes me 20 mins to get to work. I don't always work in Winchester though, I work all over the county
