    Sofa Advice Please??

Hi all, myself and OH are getting our first married quarter in july and were looking into pre-ordering our sofas soon so we can pay most of them off before we move in and have other things to spend our money on.

Can anyone give me some advice on what they would reccomend with regards to it fitting in each house that we may be given when moving around every couple of years:

    2 x 2 seater
    1 x 3 seater & 1 x 1 seater
    or
1 x 3 seater & x 2 seater (will this fit comfortably in most houses?)

    help will be appreciated!!

don't order till you know what size quarter you get.....you could rent setties of army first.
plus even if you can fit a big settie into the house, sometimes there is just nooo way to get them into the house.

When you get army furniture they offer a 2 seater and 1 or 2 chairs so I assume that they would fit into most quarters without a drama. For me personally I have a 3 seater and a chair and they have fitted into a 2 and 3 bed quarter. Will let you know in 2 months if they fit into the next one!

We have a 3 seater, the size of your average 4 seater, and a 2 seater the size of your average 3 seater. Don't get big ones, or at least, don't get two big ones like we did! They were fine in our first house, as it was huge. Second house was tiny and although we got them in, they filled the whole lounge!

Love them as I do, if we were to buy again, we'd probably get either 2 x two seaters, or more likely a 3 seater and an armchair type thing (are they still called armchairs?!).

If you can get ones that you can take the arms off to get them in/out of houses, it's very handy. Have known people have to take windows in and out - thankfully that hasn't happened to us...yet!

Fingers crossed for this summer that we can get them in the new house - eek!

    Yep!

I've got a three seater and a two seater sofa and they are squished into my lounge diner at right angles, dining room table and six chairs can't be used unless we push the sofas up against the telly!

Can't wait to leave this flipping rabbit hutch.

I've been looking at this myself; hubby and I have no living room furniture of our own and we don't really fancy renting the army's indefinitely. My thought was a two seater sofa and two chairs- we should be able to configure that most places, I would hope. Then I have my chair, he has his chair, there's a couch to snuggle on or sleep on, etc. If a room was really small we could leave one of the chairs in the garage or similar.

I really wanted to get a massive modern L shaped thing with a chaise end on it, but from USA quarters experience, those never fit anywhere.

We've got one of those L shaped ones and while it does fit most places the problem is you're stuck with it in a configuration that doesn't work in every house. We've held off buying new sofas until we actually got into the quarter on the basis that this is a fairly long posting so we might as well get something that works properly with the house. Personally I'd wait and spend the money on things you know will fit in the meantime.
