MOD - please make a sticky as it's quite useful!

Not sure if all are aware of this but you can request that your house be regraded if it does not meet the correct standard as laid down in JSP 464. On march in you should be given a form which tells you the grading of the property. Part 4 of JSP 464 goes through the process and timelines.

Remember that is has to be done within the first 3 months of march in (but if things change then you can apply). Some of the areas are woolly (subsistance, noise from being under a flight path for an airport) which allows interpretation for you and for DE but take a chance. It takes a while and can also get issues you have identified solved (mind you is it worth the hassle - I asked for some roof insulation as the SFA had below the limits laid down in the rules; MHS contractors ended up cutting through asbestos containing board and not telling me for 5 weeks!).

You could save some money every month. Hope this is useful and get doing it!
