    Pre march outs

How clean does my house need to be for this? Do i want to have everything ready as i would for an actual march out or not? I've got 2 week betwen my move in and my march out so was hoping to do most of the hard graft after we've moved out but my pre march out is before we move.

    Re: Pre march outs

No, your pre-march out is just to give you a heads up on anything that you might need to get straightened out before the actual day. They'll also check for anything that needs replacing/fixing in good time so they can get it sorted before they move new people in.

Having said that, I always make sure the carpets are OK. It's the first thing they'll charge you for so I don't like to get them thinking!

Bodger is right, we've not long had ours. You might want to make sure the walls are ok too because they are very hot on them now too.

We had ours on Monday and we were just told to make sure the carpets were shampooed, picture hooks removed and that the place had a good overall clean. The bloke took about 10-15 mins max.

But lve also been told that in N Ireland they are not as strict as in other areas - so the rumours would have it - will tell you on Wed after we have our actual march out though!

I am soooo glad we live in our own place!!

That said, my mum is a whizz at traditional cleaning after 15 years in MQs!! She taught me all I know

These are the two Pre-move out advisory leaflets:

    England & Wales
    Scotland

For info, I've lifted this from the 'Moving to NI' page on the AFF website:

The NI Cleaning Scheme is specific to Northern Ireland. The free scheme has one key element: a surface clean only is required on move out, making the handover much less stressful than the traditional march-out.

    Re: Pre march outs

my mum did it for 24 years and was never charged either and although i try to keep my house at a near march out standard permanently i have still sought more advice since pre-march out inspection and have opted in for cleaners, booked painter and had a gardener in to be absolutely sure for my first march out as a "grown up" (and i use that term very loosley) x if in doubt, ask ur estate warden to come over again after u have corrected any points from inspection to tell u if u have improved enough.....either that or get a clean freak friend to come for a visit....if they seem impressed u are usually on to a winner

    Re: Pre march outs

I made sure our house was clean & tidy for the pre-march out but knowing how finicky they can be on march out we used the pre-payment cleaners. Hassle free, guaranteed march out & no sweeping cobwebs from sheds for me. They did the inside of the house, they cleaned the windows, bins, paths & patios & everything. Well worth the money.

    Re: Pre march outs

I paid for the MQCS when I left Germany. My OH and I just gave what (in our opinion) was a quick cursory clean up so that we weren't embarrassed when we handed the house over.

A few months later I received a letter stating that the house was cleaned to such an exceptional standard that they were refunding what we paid for MQCS as it wasn't needed!

    Re: Pre march outs

What is MQCS? I assume its some sort of cleaning service? I know when i lived in colchester de had a firm you could use that would guarentee your house would be up to march out standard but where i am now isnt really an army town its a teeny little place and i'm not sure if they have anything like that here.
Anyone know how i'd find out? With a dog a 5 yr old and a 4 month old baby and the hubby being away over the next weekends finding the time to get the house sorted is a bit of an uphill battle so OH has agreed to let me use a cleaner. But obviously i'd prefer it if i could find a cleaner who knows what a march out is and knows what the standard is

special tree - ask at your local hive, they should be able to tell you, or even the HIC. I've always paid for the MQCS its so much easier, but then every time we've moved I've either been pregnant or had a very small child (and I've only got 2 of them!!). we've had alot of moving in the last 4 years.

"opting in" for the mq cleaners is always a good idea if u want to be sure!!! i have been "marching out" my whole life, first with parents and now with OH and even i have still chosen to have a cleaner in to double check my work as it were xxxx

Have a looky on the MHS website special_tree

    http://www.modernhousingsolutions.co...moving_pre.asp

There's a pre payment cleaning service you can use, you'll get given all the info at your pre march out. We used it, it was good. 200 for a two bed house, inside & out, the whole works.

    Re: Pre march outs

We found out today what we are getting in disturbance so a guarenteed march out cleaning service will DEFINITELY be being used. So much less hassle moving the kids to a different hosue changing schools and bills etc is enough of a chore at least i know i can hand the cleannig voer to someone safe in the knowledge my back is covered while i get on with arranging my new quarter exactly how i want it!
Thanks for your replies everyone very helpful

    Hiya Schuh,
There are pre-move out advisory leaflets for the garrisons in Germany but they aren't available online. Each garrison housing office will offer a paper copy during the pre-move out visit.

    Best wishes
