We looked at refusing the quarter that we were given.
We were given one on the 'rubbish' side of camp where all the houses are smaller and not as nice.
We refused the quarter to begin with, but they called us up and basically said that our reasons weren't good enough (i.e. we didn't have children) so we weren't guaranteed to get anything. (They were actually really rude and the woman hung up on me!)
For us it was more important to have a roof over our heads than to be fussy about the house.
As it happens, we stayed with the quarter we were given and now I've really grown to love it and ended up with the best neighbour anyone could wish for.
Maybe best just to go with fate on this one and take what you're given (unless you are able to risk spending a long time without a quarter).
if you do accept a quarter and really do hate it, you only have to be in the house for 6 months and you can put in to move. Yes it might take a while but if your reasons are valid and good enough they do try to offer you another house.
we had the worst chavvy neighbours in catterick who loved to beat each other up and have parties every night so put in to move and got given a great house after about 4 months of putting application in.

Holy Cow!
