Im not sure on prices But i heard that army furniture is pretty ugly. But dont take my word on it as iv never had to have it.
Im sure someone will be along that can give you more info.
and if its only you and your other half you may only be able to get a 1 bed.

Lol, easier said than done - depends on what grade the quarter is - however the better the accommodation the more you pay.

I apologies that I don't have a link for the costs -but i'm sure someone will have and add it later.

    Re: How much are quarters?

ok not sure if the uk is the same but all the army issue furniture out here in germany got updated a year os ro ago and i got to say...WOW!!!! i went out and priced up ned living room furniture as me and hubby wanted new, ones sideboard we looked at was 900 alone and we fell in love with it. i went round a freinds house who had not long moved over so her house was all army issue and she had exactly the same furniture as i was after in the shop. it is all so bloody solid a sledge hammer wouldnt get through it, really chunky and really is stunning. if i can find pictures on the net i will post them on here but the furniture really has changed dramaticly in recent years.rent in germany for quaters is also alot more than in the uk, we pay about 500 a month for rent, fuel and light and ciloct(council tax)but its still cheap compared to civvy rates.

Im in a grade 1, type C house (which means it's the top grade and type C means its 3 beds) and we pay around 280 a month. We're in Hampshire. Grades 1 and 2 are usually the nicest and most up to date houses. Grades 3 and 4 tend to be a bit older and smaller but your rent will be a lot cheaper. I have a friend in a grade 4 house and she pays 75 a month, so really it depends on what your after.

We are in a Grade 2, Type C and we pay around 260 p/m, including CILOCT.

Our house is old and looks like a throwback from the council estate off shameless, so God knows what a Grade 4 looks like on our estate!

It's allocated to you according to your needs (ie: number of children/what they have empty etc).

You can refuse SFA but you must have a good reason for it.

Grading for houses also goes on how near to camp you are, how near to public transport, shops schools etc.
DE website gives a greater explanation on the grading system.

    Re: How much are quarters?

It really does depend. I haven't responded as this is the first time I'm in quarters and we're really lucky - we live a fair bit from camp, our house isn't a typical Army house (as I understand it) and it's really gorgeous. I bet our next place won't be as lovely...
Furniture-wise - we have unfurnished as we lived together before getting married and accumulated loads of STUFF. We did ask for a spare bed (double) and a bookshelf, but it's really classified as unfurnished.
    Opinionated, Moi?

    Re: How much are quarters?

Hello, with regards to the cost of rent. Another user was recently asking the very same questions and Elsie tanner posted a link to a pdf file which has all the current rates on.

You can find it here. http://www.rearparty.co.uk/cpgn2/For...ic/t=3609.html

Houses/flats are allocated according to need, sometimes if there is a shortage of accomodation and you don't have any children-you might have a wait until you actually get a place. There is a transit accomodation place in Corsham called The cotswold centre.

Edited to add, my husband said some of the old army furniture is being written off and replaced with pine furniture. The old hoovers are being replaced with Dyson etc.. Not sure if this is just for the singlies or for all service personnel.
